I really like this dark, seasonal brew from Missoula. Not much head...rich taste. High alcohol level (alc. content 7.8 - 8.4% vol). Only available from November thru February. Calories abt. 300, (based on Sam Adams Double Bock).

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle via beer swap at ABA Annual meeting in Portland, Oregon. Pours a clear, golden brown brew with a thin beige head that slowly dissolves to a fine film, good lacing and white ring. Aroma of smoked apple and plum wood, some roasted nuts, sweet caramel malt, with a touch of flowery hops. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated, semi-sweet with flavors of light milk chocolate, toffee, some apple/pear character and a touch of smokey brown sugar. Finish is sweet, then slightly dry with a faint maple syrup flavor aftertaste. Nice touch for a doppelbock.

12oz btl thanks to kyzr. A dark brown pour with little to no head. An aroma of malt sweetness and a hint of abv. A flavor of sweet maltiness followed by raisins and just enough bitter to keep it interesting. The abv comes through with just a tad of warmth. Light carbonation and good mouthfeel push this beer on up. Overall a beer that I really enjoyed and wish I could get here. thanks Mitch

Bottle thanks to Kyzr poured a dark brown color with almost no head. Aroma was malty with sweet caramel and some chocolate. Flavor had a clean lager yeast with mild hop bitterness and more of a rich sweet malt finish.

From Ashand, Oregon this poured dark ruby with a tiny brown head and little lacing. Nose of sweet malts. Thin body and nothing like it looks. Flavor is sweet and there are fruits in the finish. Not bad, not good. I am not very expert on the type so don’t know how to compare it on that basis, but I note below both Oakes and Ompher were not impressed.

12 oz. bottle via trade with kyzr - Pours a clear brown color with a thin light tan head that faded quickly. No lacing. Has a sweet malt aroma. Flavor is very sweet malt with light esters. Medium body. Fairly smooth palate. Not bad. Thanks Mitch.

[Bottle - Johns Market, Portland Oregon] A great beer. This was a dark brown in color with a small dark head a great malty aroma. A lo of good malty flavors and spicies. I really liked this beer. It was good and had a clear dopple taste.
