Wheaty nose with some grainy malty toffee. Flat out middle of the road malts in the finish. Flavor was mild and kind of boring. Still not too bad. boFNjackson (1302), Portland, Oregon, USA

Aroma is slightly funky, like sugared malt mixed with rotten fruit. Flavors are better though, with refreshing hops and fruity esters and malt that are reminiscent of a barley wine, but way more mellowed out of course. Kind of a Tangy citrus finish. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 6, 2008 Draft. Clear orange-amber, dense orange-tinted head leaving early lace. Fruity toffee aroma. Sweet malt (marzipan) and light fruit (apricot) in perfect balance, very flavourful. Moderate bitter finish. Very good. mbgrayson (146), Anaconda, Montana, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 22, 2008 Darker golden color with no head. Caramel malts are strong in the aroma with some sour fruits - maybe apples, a little butter and thats about it. Caramel and light butter, a touch of sour fruit too. Not real hoppy, maybe a little spicy if anything. A little alcohol is detectable too. It is alright. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA

I have no recollection of ever drinking a H.B. A well made, malty concoction from the great state of Montana. If you want a craft brewed take on a Killians Red this might be your answer. Overall: too sweet for my blood , more alcohol than I need. If you like sweet, malty and plenty of abv. give it a try. Skyview (4055), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 7, 2007 Picked up a single 12-oz bottle via trade with kyzr. Pours a clear golden orange brew with an average fast dissolving white head that leaves behind a nice ring and spotty lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, candi sugar, some sweet pears and a touch of flowery hops. Taste is smooth, creamy, medium bodied with a slightly sweet caramel malt and toffee that is very enjoyable. Finish continues the sweet flavor and a slight toffee aftertaste. Taste more of the malt than any hop bitterness in this brew.
