Bottled. A deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt and caramel, as well as lighter notes of milkchocolate. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of straw to start off, but then notes of milkchocolate comes along, as well as some caramel sauce. The finish is slightly bitter, and the alcohol leaves a slight burn on the tongue.

Pours a transparent caramel/mahogany under an initially large ecru head that fades to a thick film. Light cider-vinegar notes above cocoa, caramel, figs & beets. Flavor is at once sour and bitter and it rather puts me off. Hints of chocolate below tart apple, sour grapes. Dry, lightly acidic with a grapeskin astringence. Notes of dry red wine. Not liking this so much.

Pours dark mahogany with a brown ring of bubbles. Nestle Quik aroma with burnt malt. Watered-down coffee and cocoa mixed with a touch of hops. Weak.

A Mes rate: 1 pint bottle that Sim bought in the States. Very deep dark brown with a thin and oily tan film. Sour and lactic aroma with chocolate malt underneath. Very tangy flavour hides away everything else that may or may not (and I am thinking it is the latter) that may be decent about this beer. Rubber and sour with some slight malt and berries and a distinct bitterness to the finish. Unusual but far from great.

22oz bomber-A dark brown almost black body with a huge tan head and an aroma of roasted malt, faint chocolate, and faint hops. Taste of roasted malt and very faint if no chocolate. Why call it a chocolate porter if you can’t taste the chocolate.

dark brown with ruby highlights, bits of drippy lace, chocolate malt and sweet yet astrengent hop aroma, sweet butterscotch and chocolate flavor, balanced with an astrengent bitterness, hopefully just a bad sample,

Bottle from Friar Tuck in Savoy, IL. Pours dark brown with a fizzy light brown head. Aroma wet grains and nuts. Medium bodied with a thin texture. Flavor of stale grains, caramel, and nuts. Where is the chocolate and roast? The finish is full of green apple (acetaldehyde?) and lemon. I pick up some diacetyl also. I am not too impressed with this one.

Dark, dark brown body with a sizeable fizzy tan head. Not a lot of chocolate to this thin bodied Porter. Some in the nose along with lightly roasted malts and a bit of weak coffee. Almost no chocolate in the flavor, mainly bland roasted malt, old coffee, and a hit of lemon that builds as the drinking progresses - which was not pleasant. One is enough for me.
