well if you ignore the murky brown color and the soda-like carbonated head, this isn’t a bad tasting porter. lots of chocolate and nuttiness, with roasted malt, molasses, crystal malts, carmel and almond extract. hints of vanilla but not overwhelming. if this was a little thicker and more full bodied, it would get much higher ratings in my opinion.

Draft at Yard House, San Diego. Deep chocolate aroma with some burnt malt. Near opaque black/brown color with a creamy tan head. Medium bodied; creamy carbonation (could be nitro, the tap was on the other side of the island). Then things went weird. Seemed to be vanilla cherry chocolate. It was not a bad thing, but whatever it was overpowered the chocolate and the malt. Very smooth. The dark malt only came into its own in the finish. Very unusual and interesting. Quite an experience.

650 mL bottle. Dark brown with a creamy white head. Roasty and chocolate aroma. Metallic sweet taste, roastiness, and an astringent taste to the finish.

Bomber from binny’s on Clark. Brown red body with tan head. Aroma has some sweet roasted malt and fruit. Med body but too thin for the beer with a taste of choclate, cherries, and a little sourness. Though I did like the price it will not be a beer I go back to.

Bottle: Pours a medium brown with a khaki head. Aroma, some faint chocolate, and some fruity notes. Flavor, some fruits, faint chocolate and coffee, some earthiness, and a little bit of a tang to it.

Pours a nice dark brown with an aroma that --well almost isn’t. It is called Chocolate Porter but I couldn’t taste any chocolate, not much malt either but I still enjoyed it. I just wish that companies would try to stay within the style if they give it that name.

Pour is a dark black with a average tan head. Aroma has it rosted qualities but not much in the way of chocolate. Flavor is super sour. Blech! Some light roastyness and chocolate show up after the swallow. Tame the sourness and maybe more of the chocolate would come out to make this one to look for but this is a pass right now.

bomber. garnet color with a very tall rocky head.bitter chocolate aroma with some sweet malts and light cherry notes. strong lactic-like sourness with some tart cherry followed by some light roastiness. not much chocolate as the name would imply.
