Commercial Description:
Beach Bum is an all-malt American blonde ale, which draws its deep golden color from the finest pale and caramel roasted barley malts. This beer is dry hopped with the choicest imported Alsace and Hallertau hops as well as Cascade hops from the Pacific Northwest, which lend to its pleasant hop aroma and its slightly spicy and fruity taste.

On tap at the Oak Room in Athens. Light gold and clear, with a decent head. Sour aroma, almost like a lambec. A bit flat and a bit sweet. This was so bad that I couldn;t finish it.

Bottle: Bright golden pour with a moderate white head. Nose is mild and sweet. Tastes like flat, cheap lager. No hops at all, just a little malt and grain. Pass.

I’m surprised this beer is rated as low as it is. I am dubious of any micro-looking offerings from macro brewers, but this one is actually very tasty.

6/20/2007: Beach Bum Blonde Ale is a very clear honey color with an off-white head. There isn’t too much to the aroma except some pale maltiness. The flavor also has some pale malt, some citrus, and a slightly sour quality, but for the most part it is grainy and bland. Light to medium-light body. This is a drinkable session beer, but definitely wouldn’t be my first choice. Actually, if I had the opportunity to have this beer again I would probably just pass on it for something - anything - else!

Draught (growler fill) from The Party Source; shared at the Junedale Beer Klub June "Ales of Summer" beer tasting...

Bottle from BevMo. Medium golden color upon pouring. Sweet malty aroma. Kind of syrupy smelling. Watery malt flavors. Not many hops. Drinkable, but very lacking.
