Commercial Description:
Beach Bum is an all-malt American blonde ale, which draws its deep golden color from the finest pale and caramel roasted barley malts. This beer is dry hopped with the choicest imported Alsace and Hallertau hops as well as Cascade hops from the Pacific Northwest, which lend to its pleasant hop aroma and its slightly spicy and fruity taste.

Light golden color with a tall BIG bubbled head that dissipates quite quickly leaving a couple splotches of lace. Looks cheap. Aroma is elusive. I thought I caught some hops but then they were gone. Maybe just a hint of dry grains, white grapes and dry grass. Weak. God lord the flavors match the aromas. Dry grain, actually a touch of corn and a light dry herb flavor. Tastes somewhat like a weak malt liquor. Life’s a beach and this beer is a bummer.

A deep yellow color with a light head. This also had a nice flavor with some nice cascade hops and malts that balanced each other. This was a workin in the yard hot day beer. Not bad.

The aroma is heavy with adjunct malts especially corn, there is also a little bit of yeast and honey but hardly any hops or fruit. The appearance is pale gold with a medium-small head. The flavor is malty with adjunct malts which make it a tad sour. There is actually hop bitterness here that was not detectable in the aroma. The palate is thin with a malty yet dry finish. As AB beers go it’s better than average, and as Blond Ales go, this is pretty typical and on par with most making it rather ho-hum but drinkable. Yet, I can’t help but feel moments of weak Malt Liquor while drinking this.

12oz bottle pours pale golden with a short white head and a little lace. Aromas of slight malts, honey, and some slight grassy hops. Flavor is honey with a touch of grassy hops. Somewhat watery on the palate. I guess it was a thirst quencher on a hot day..

Draft at Virginia Beer Festival. Poured a pretty bright golden color. Aroma is a sweet mix of malts and a bit of hops. Flavor was pretty refereshing (it was blistering hot outside), but I don’t know if this would be great outside of that.

Pour is a bright yellow with a average white head. Aroma is an ok mix of sweet malts and just an ever so small amount of hops. Flavor is kinda watery with some chemical and plastic. Smells and looks good taste is not so much.

I bought this thinking this might be special but alas was fooled again. It was just ordinary nothing special, not something I would recomend to someone.

(Tap) Pours a golden color with a small white head. Little aroma and average lacing. Light grains in the taste, with a dry aftertaste. Nothing complex, and only slightly better body compared to other AB products. I would pass on this one though...
