The aroma was chocolate with some pancakes and old coffee. The taste was nasty coffee with a bitter roasted finish. There was also some burnt peanuts. Too much strange hops for the style. tupalev (2617), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Oily oatmeal aroma. Pitch black. Dark tan head. Taste of dry roasted malt, oatmeal, a little tar. Short dry finish. Semi-sweet. An excellent Stout that just needs a little more body. dwyerpg (2537), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

A nice venue for a brewpub right at the end of the Park and with a view of the ocean. This was a nitro product. It was black with a nitro creamy light brown head. A strong deep roasted aroma and flavor with some chocolate to balance. Re-Rate (6 3 7 3 14). Dark brown but you can see through it. A laced brown head. Toasted malts. Nice roast coffee aroma with an enjoyable medium-bodied roast flavor profile. A bit of tar on the finish and moderately dry. A solid stout. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 22, 2006 Another beer sampled on my recent West Coast trip. The Beach Chalet is a great resaurant that overlooks the Pacific Ocean and is in the corner of Golden Gate Park. Now onto the stout...This beer pours black of course, with a decent head. The aroma is nice--plenty of roasted (almost burnt) malt and some coffee as well. The taste follows exactly. This one is heavy on the coffee flavor in the mold of a Fuller’s London Porter. The mouthfeel is fine for a stout. Overall, I was glad to have stopped in and tried this place as this stout was worth the trip."
