beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Jul 10, 2009 Tasted at the brewpub on 7/9/2009. This porter pours a medium to dark amber gold color from the tap. Small sized beige head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee and a touch nutty. A medium bodied porter. The malts are roasted, chocolate and coffee. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. Good carbonation. There is a touch of a nutty flavors is this one as well. It just so light in color, not that that is a bad thing, you just expect a porter to be much darker in color. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. DJMonarch (6036), Northwich, Cheshire, England Jul 10, 2009 From the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 13/10/2007
Roast aroma. Small white head. Mid brown coloured and fruity with a slightly dry burnt roast finish. JohnC (2230), Mission Viejo, California, USA Jul 10, 2009 I had this on draft at the Beach Chalet brewpub.
For a porter, a lighter brown than usual, but the dry, roasty, nutty coffee flavors stood out. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Mar 13, 2009 Draft @ the brewpub. Pours a dark brown almost black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty coffee aroma. Roasted malty chocolate and coffee flavor. Has a roasted malty chocolate finish. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA Sep 6, 2007 Pours a surprisingly light color for a porter. The color is really a light brown. But despite the light color this brew is not light in any other way. Strong roasted and burnt malty aromas and flavors make this beer a real treat. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 4, 2007 Draught, Beach Chalet. Head is fully diminishing. Body is medium to dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate/cocoa). Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively/fizzy carbonation. Kind of crude and basic.
