A little lace, neutral aroma oddly, watery and above average carbonation. There was some roasting, chocolate malt and coffee. Palidor19 (1791), Brandon, Florida, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Feb 9, 2009 The aroma is really nice with toasted malt, chocolate, molasses, and coffee. The appearance is dark brown with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma but suffers from an unpleasant bitterness and an unwelcome fruitiness. The palate is a little thin for a porter. Overall, not bad at all. otakuden (518), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 20, 2008 There is nothing that quite compares to sitting on the beach, bare feet in the sands, toes scrunching their golden crunchy flaky bliss in pure relaxation. Add a good beer to that scenario, salt spray occasionally tingling on my face, and I am as near to nirvana as I can be without going to the great big ocean in the sky. So when I saw the Beachside Porter at one of my little local beer stores, I just had to pick it up based on sheer name value. Of course, a name is but a name, so hopefully the brew inside would live up to the expectations in my head. A porter is a beautiful thing, after all; not as heavy as a stout, but with enough body to stand proudly.
She poured a luminously velvet black with a thin head which fades into a soft film on top. She froths faithfully with a few swirls, producing thick and tightly packed-together bubbles. As I raise her dark depths to my nose, I am drawn into an aroma of creamy milk chocolate followed by hints of bitter nuts and freshly drawn espresso. A lighter body for a dark beer, as she should be, my Beachside Porter is a bit thin but nowhere near lacking in flavor and palate. Immediately I taste the sweet milk chocolate and cream that was present in her nose, with a very pleasing finish of chocolate essence. A tinge of bitterness creeps into her finish, hinting of toasted malts and espresso. Further on into her palate, some caramelized sugars blends with the toasted malts. A faintly dry finish leaves me craving more and so I happily oblige.
I wasn’t expecting much from my Beachside Porter, but thankfully my expectations were shattered as my palate was led on a flavorful journey of porter bliss. I could and can easily recommend this porter for any day at the beach or anywhere else one desires to partake of a darker flavorful brew without the extra weight. dogfish120love (279), west hartford, Connecticut, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 10, 2008 12 oz. bottle in trade from Daknole, thanks! Served in pint glass- poured trademark black, half finger tan head formed but went away rather quickly. Aroma of a roasted malt and churned riverwater (?). Guess why it’s called beachside... hits the mouth with a low-medium body, malt is there but not very strong, a bit of water in the middle, finish has an odd sweet/tangy finish to it. It’s beer, but kind of odd.
