Bottle, from Whole Foods in Palm Beach. Dark brown, almost black pour with a decent sized tan head. Aroma is pure chocolate and some faint hints of coffee. Flavor is really chocolatey and has some chocolate covered coffee bean flavor as well. Oakes was right, this one has a hot chocolate flavor in it.

Pours a deep black opaque colour with a full vanilla head. Aromatic of roasted malts chocolate cake and black coffee. Has a flavor of dark chocolate, toffee and candy corn. A touch of spice in the finish.

Light brown with slight haze. Plummy aroma with light toasty notes. Fairly husky body, with light chocolate/fudge accents. Very much like a hot chocolate powder in the finish.

Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of dark bread, roasted anddark chocolate, light aromas of herbs and dough for the hops and yeast, with tar and pepper in the background. Head is creamy, white, with no lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is dark brown with a red tint. Flavor has almost no sweetness, but is lightly acidic to start, and finishes moderately bitter and a little sour. Palate is medium, watery and bit creamy, and has a lively carbonation. It finishes a touch chalky. Good aromas with slightly off flavors.

Bottle, special procurement. Dark brown with some red hue. Smells sweet and malty. Great roasted grain flavors with a slight sweetness in the finish. Not bad at all!

Bottle. Nice deep almost black pour with a thin even tan head. Mild chocolately sweet aroma with a light nuttiness. Pretty thin slightly roasty taste, not really much going on. Slightly soured finish. Pretty basic and the taste borders on bland.

Pours a mahogany brown color that shines translucent red when held to a light source. The body looks pretty watery. A foamy tan head shows decent retention, settling slowly to a swirly film with a prominent edge. Sudsy lacing clings to the glass fairly well. Aromas include roasted chocolate malts, nougat, and a sweet creaminess that almost reminds me of a marshmallow cream. There is perhaps a touch of nuttiness to the nose as well. The flavor falls quite a bit short of the promising scent, as the light-medium, fizzy body muddles things up quite a bit in the mouth. Non-descript chocolate malts and coffee meet dry woodsy notes that finish chalky and sour. Pretty run-of-the-mill. Too bad, because it smells quite nice.

[929-20071206] 12floz. Boozy roasted malt aroma. Clear, dark brown red body with a long-lasting creamy almond head. Coffee roasted malt flavour has a bit of chocolate. Full body is smooth. Bottle poured by the brewer himself, apparently he had wanted more chocolate than Guinness.
Brewer told me it is also bottled as the Ybor Gold Gaspar Porter.
