Thin tan head on top, subtle hoppy overtones in the nose and crisp bite on the palate. Thick mouthfeel, almost chewy. Malt, malt, malty, malt. Smooth and sweet and very rich. This one is pretty fantastic! mgermani (865), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Sep 22, 2008 Pours a pitch black with a lovely thick, dense head and lots of lacing. Lots of sweetness to the aroma, dark toffee and graham-cracker. Lightly acidic coffee taste, balanced roasted malt, leafy hops lend a light vegetal character to the finish. Body is thin, lasting head lends a bit towards the impression of creaminess where the body has none itself. Light carbonation. Bold tasting but needs a big more body, I like the coffee but it needs some oats or flaked barley or something. Tasty, though. fidel (976), Livermore, California, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 18, 2008 Pours a deep brown with a finger thick tan head. The nose is decent, with dark chocolate, coffee and a touch of hop bitterness. The flavor is too bitter with coffee grounds and malt astringent notes. Note very smooth on the palate as a good Impy should be. Bitter finish. rcasta (489), El Salvador

Pitch black, though not oily thick pour with big light tan head that lasts and leaves some good lace. Really nice aroma with a great balance of hops, roasty malt, chocolate, and molasses (and I am not a huge fan of hoppy Imperial Stouts, but it works well in the aroma here). This thing tastes just as good as its aroma. Same flavors as aromas with some hints of vanilla and a bitter roasty finish. Alcohol is hidden well. It is soft and smooth on the palate; the only reason I didn’t give it a 5 is because it could be a bit thicker for my impy taste. Overall: very solid, a must try if you see it and are an impy fan. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 17, 2008 This is a highly complex, not too heavy Double Stout. Dark chocolate, french roast coffee, and rum in the nose. Also, a great value, at under $5.00 a 22oz bottle in the SoCal region.
