| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 9, 2008 Black pour with a nice dark tan frothy head, which lasted the entire mug. Some light lacing. Roasty aromas, some earthy hops. Dark chocolate and heavily roasted/burnt malt, finished rather clean. A bit too dry to me, but still good. Praetorian (86), Los Angeles, California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 7, 2008 Pours with a light brown head covering a black body. Leaves waves on top of the beer. Aroma of cocoa, chocolate, charcole and light hops. Taste is chocolate (baking chocolate), and is quite bitter throughout. Syrupy mouthfeel with light bubbles. A bit overrated in my opinion. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 4, 2008 Courtesy of sebletitje. Pours dark dark brown with mocha head. The aroma is roasty malts, bold black licorice and mild nuttiness. The taste is much the same with tasty chocolate malts, mild hop flavor, some roastiness, molasses, mild malt astringency and burnt malt notes. A pleasant chocolate sensation rides to the finish and into the after taste. Wow, I like this. Oscbert (550), Sacramento, California, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 4, 2008 Bottle. Looks happy to be alive and released from the bottle, like a genie. Opaque black with a luscious tan head. Aroma of coffee, bittersweet chocolate, cocoa powder and carob. Balanced and lovely. Palate is surprisingly light but strong at the same time. Soft, creamy mouthfeel. Super-rich chocolaty taste. Cocoa and mocha to the max. Not too much roast, more like bittersweet chocolate, not sweet, just good. Why aren’t there more no-nonsense brews like this? KnN (751), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 3, 2008 Nice stout. Pours a deep black color with just the barest hint of ruby if held up to a strong light. Flavor is fairly smooth with some good roasted malt and a fair bit of sweetness. Not much in the way of coffee on this one but just a good smooth stout. 8.1% was not noticeable at all. mfaulke (81), clemson, South Carolina, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 1, 2008 Rich and flavorful, and a little more subtle than some other IMPS that I have tried. Fantastic balance between the malt and hops. Kind of reminds me of a less hoppy version of the Storm King. I like to chew my stouts, so I wish this one were a little thicker. Great brew. Salud
