Fantastic balance between the malt and hops. Kind of reminds me of a less hoppy version of the Storm King. I like to chew my stouts, so I wish this one were a little thicker. Great brew. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 27, 2008 Thats what it is. Black. Beautiful head. Dark Head. Thick and rich, just stays, wow. Molasses, dark rich aroma. Sweet, like a port. Molasses , citrus flavor is what it does to the nose. Slightly a watery flavor, not as nice as the aroma & look. Needs to sit. I smell hops but don’t’ taste them. Disappointing fishingnet (1047), Brandon, Florida, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 25, 2008 so well balanced my head is spinning! wonderful roasted malt with accents of sweetness that yet are not cloying are working very harmoniously with wonderful malt character! just like IIPAs seem to be excused often by the public for having overwhelming unbalanced hops, too many imperial stouts are the reverse, with such an emphasis on coffee/chocolate malts that the hops are dead and gone or barely there. my tounge is sizzling from the wonderful bitterness they provide here yet i still can appreciate teh wonderful malts. why are bear republic bombers priced so low? ive yet to find a disappointing brew from these guys, this is definately another winner! The sour is from a surprising amount of hop and there is plenty of sweet malt giving milk chocolate flavors and cappuccino (the gas station kind). Some biscuit. Very smooth and creamy feel. 22 oz. bottle that emptied way too soon. Very good.
