Commercial Description:
Big Bear, as the name implies, is a hefty, black, Russian Imperial-style stout. This strong stout boasts a rich, caramel sweetness lavished by a robust, deep-roasted heartiness you can sink your teeth into... Big Bear's bold flavors are produced using a blend of Belgian and English roasted barley and crystal malts. Some unique flavors come forth in the malt character...Louisiana sweet molasses and dark brown sugar. This dark brew is well hopped with Chinook and Cascade hops, which are somewhat, masked by the malt. This is a balanced strong brew boasting an ABV of 8.1% that can creep up on you, "so don't get mauled". It has a dry roasted quality that masks its high alchohol content, so drink responsibly.

Poured black with a creamy brown head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Started off with coffee flavors and finished with some chocolate. Had a bit of a sour finish. Very smooth.

Poured from 22 oz bomber into Rogue pint glass. Jet black body with a dark tan fluffy head of a perfect 2 fingers that reduces down to a cap, leaving some nice lacing. Smells of semisweet dark chocolate, a bit of cocoa, coffee. Dark chocolate and roasted malt dominate the initial taste with some dry hop bitterness in the end. Exceptional balance. Really nice and smooth, but medium bodied, which is kind of odd for a RIS but it works fine here. Carbonation is a bit high.

Thanks to Hellbilly for this one. Im getting sick of drinking all this good beer from him. ;) Pours pitch black with fluffy white head and honeycomb esque lacing. Sweet malty aroma. Creamy/silky mouth-feel with chocolate and espresso. notable hops and roast on the finish.

Bomber bottle...that shit is black!!....sweet sugary nose...milk chocolate and some alcohol....sweet initial taste...dark chocolate flavor....silky body with some cream in the effervescence....a hop bite to the finish....a simple brew in its dimensions of flavor profile...but its simply good....back to the body----->it’s a delight....silky sensations sliding seductively...somewhat sticky on the lips...hearty yet light, sits with me quite right....a very good stout, not a great stout

Draught. Aromas of cherry, smoke, chocolate, and coffee. Pitch black with a nice thick brown head. Opens with coffee, finishes slightly acidic with some fruit notes from the hops. Very strong smoke and coffee aftertaste. Smooth, robust palate.

This is a solid IMP stout. Can really taste the hops. I tend to prefer the stouts where hops don’t dominate. They seem more balanced to me.

draft at Flying Saucer in Houston. Pours black with a one-inch brown head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Flavor is cocoa powder with some molasses and coffee. Mouthfeel was medium with a dry, chalky aftertaste. Very drinkable for an Impy stout. Will buy again.
