Commercial Description:
Big Bear, as the name implies, is a hefty, black, Russian Imperial-style stout. This strong stout boasts a rich, caramel sweetness lavished by a robust, deep-roasted heartiness you can sink your teeth into... Big Bear's bold flavors are produced using a blend of Belgian and English roasted barley and crystal malts. Some unique flavors come forth in the malt character...Louisiana sweet molasses and dark brown sugar. This dark brew is well hopped with Chinook and Cascade hops, which are somewhat, masked by the malt. This is a balanced strong brew boasting an ABV of 8.1% that can creep up on you, "so don't get mauled". It has a dry roasted quality that masks its high alchohol content, so drink responsibly.

Not the best of the style I’ve ever had, but not the worst either. I won’t be buying anymore of this, but it’s definitely worth a try once.

Pours black with just under half an inch of head. Full bodied. Under 5 dollars for a bomber in my area so awesome for the money. On the nose I get chocolate, roasted malts. On the palate I get chocolate, malts, caramel, toffee. Nice stout great to have it again.

Dark chocolatey notes, with roasted almost burnt malt, molasses, and some coffee. Sweet with some toffee and licorice and a bit of light bitter hops. Dark black clear, topped with light tan lacing head. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Starts with tons of malt flavor, chocolate, molasses, licorice, and some coffee. Burnt bitter malty-nutty finish, with good hoppy bitterness. Light carbonic acidity. After is sweet and just a little thick, with nutty-chocolate goodness.

bottle. Average creamy beige head that mostly lasted. Fair display of lacework. Black color. Heavy roasted malty notes, chocolate, mild coffee, liquorish. Full bodied, soft carbonation, light alcoholic texture. Moderated sweet and bitter flavor. Roasted malty lingering finish.

While not quite as bold as the Yeti or the Czar, this one is similar and (just as / almost) as good as those.

Bomber at The Brickskeller in DC into the shaker they served it with. Dark brown oily pour with dark coffee 1/4 inch head. Mild roasted aroma with a slight kick in the back of the throat at the finish. Some serious lace and undeniable sweet dark chocolate malty goodness throughout the body. I’d agree with the comments concerning the hidden ABV and that is a good but not fantastic beer, still pretty yummy for what it is.

Bottle. Was anticipating this brew for a while. Black pour and great aroma. Taste is full-bodied and nothing less than a great stout. Abv is hidden well, aka this beer can get you drunk if you aren’t careful.
