Commercial Description:
Big Bear, as the name implies, is a hefty, black, Russian Imperial-style stout. This strong stout boasts a rich, caramel sweetness lavished by a robust, deep-roasted heartiness you can sink your teeth into... Big Bear's bold flavors are produced using a blend of Belgian and English roasted barley and crystal malts. Some unique flavors come forth in the malt character...Louisiana sweet molasses and dark brown sugar. This dark brew is well hopped with Chinook and Cascade hops, which are somewhat, masked by the malt. This is a balanced strong brew boasting an ABV of 8.1% that can creep up on you, "so don't get mauled". It has a dry roasted quality that masks its high alchohol content, so drink responsibly.

A pitch black black bear colored beer with a disappearing chocolate colored head. The aroma is sweet with notes of chocolate, while the flavor is dominated by chocolate as well as coffee notes.

Bottled. Thanks jcalabre!! Very black with dark beige head. Roasty, salty licorice aroma. Dry and softly malty with notes of coffee. Very rich and powerful. Salty bitter finish. It seems you can't go very wrong when making a dry imperial stout, and this is just fabulous.

Black, rich, thick, dry. Reminds of Wellington’s in the way that it brings a dry stout to Imperial size without getting too chewy or fruity. Delicious melding of different malt elements - nuts, coffee, biscuit.

Light-blocking black body with big brown head. Outstanding choco-coffee aroma, rich and mouth-watering. Flavor is rich coffee, quite thick. Roasty bitterness sneaks in at the end, but relatively mild. Quite smooth for an 8% ABV.
