Commercial Description:
The first of our small batches brewed on the old Wild Horse brewing system, this black beer is a twist on the classic Belgian Wit. It is brewed with three kinds of wheat and black and crystal malts. Roast and clove notes are its major flavors; it finishes dry.

Poured a black color with a very small off white head. Aroma was really bland, couldnt quite pick out anything besides some nots of spices and yeast. Flavor was a bit roasted, with some of the general notes of wheat beers you would expect. Just a strange bland beer.

Pretty quaffable but otherwise un-notable with a bit of a watered down wheat taste along with licorice and chocolate tones. On tap at Elmer Sudds, Wilkes Barre.

On draft, could have swore this was a porter, but oh well. Not much of a smell, light body with a strong caramel roast flavor, mixed with some carbonation. Not much else.

I enjoyed this beer. It looked and felt like a porter. Worth a try . . .

On draft at the Comet. Pours very dark brown in color. Cola like without any head at all. Smell is heavy black malts and a bit of roast. The malts really shine in the flavor as well. Plenty of black patent malt and a bit of a roasty porter finish. This was a pretty decent beer, and it’s highly drinkable.

Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Pub this beer poured a medium black color with a small dark tan head. The aroma was vague sour and tangy malts. The flavor was tangy, sour, lightly hoppy and just rather off. It really tasted like this beer was trying to be several things and failing horribly at doing anything.

Draught @ Blind Tiger, into tulip. Pours hazy, dark brown w/ red highlights showing through, rocky tan head that lasts awhile and lots of lacing. Nose is spicy yeast, clove, with hints of citrus zest, and just a hint of roasty malt and even cocoa. Taste really is an odd combo of roasty and wit flavors - the yeasty characteristics of the wit leave the roasty tasting oddly off, with a dry, yeasty finish. Light body and moderate carbonation. An interesting experiment, but definitely not my favorite BR beer.

(Draught) Pours an opaque dark brown (near black) body with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coriander, licorice, clove, caramel, and cocoa. Flavor of roasted malt, sweet caramel, light licorice, chocolate, and lactic.
