On nitro tap, pours almost black with a cascading, creamy head. Sweet malty nose with an interesting sour like influence. This flows right into the flavor, with that sweetness yet sour funk standing out. Nice smokey finish as well.

On tap with nitrogen at the brewpub in Healdsburg. Dark chestnut color with a thin, fine, light-tan head. Lots of sweet coffee in the aroma followed by toffee and brown sugar. More coffee in the flavor wit a bit of toffee and mild grain bitterness. Fairly thin mouthfeel with well-rounded flavors that follw through into a clean finish.

Similar in taste profile to the big bear black ale. It is a thinner mouthfeel, somewhat oily. Rich and malty with a pleasant hoppy bitterness afterwards.

On draft at the brewpub in Healdsburg. This came in the glass a brown color with a foamy tan head and left nice lacing rings. Nose is of coffee and roasted malts, with chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium and the overall texture is light and a bit watery but nevertheless smooth. Flavor is dominate by the roasted malts and bitter chocolate but the floral and grassy hops show up in the dry finish. Overall a smooth and easy drinking porter.
