Oct 21, 2007 GABF 2007. Some excellent offerings from BR this year, and this was one of ’em. Deep amber/garnet in color. Chocolate and caramel flavor w/ a nice, hoppy nose.

115 ibus..but though the bitterness is ob vious then copious malt bill equals it.
for $4 a pint this is fantastic stuff indeed.

Apr 2, 2009 Growler THANKS! to Kenny. Very hoppy nose with citrus aromas overwhelming the immediate area when we opened the bottle. Excellent mouthfeel as the hops was over the tongue with citrusy fruit flavors. Excellent overall, deserves a higher score.

Jul 3, 2009 on tap at the brewpub. Beautiful deep amber pour. Nose was loads of malt mixed with big citrus and pine hops. Flavor is malty caramel, sharp hop bitterness, some alcohol and hop sweetness. Finishes a bitter dry. Nice offering.

Apr 2, 2009 growler from CBX. sweet find on my trip to charleston. pours a beautiful dark brown, ruby color with a thin, beige head a great lacing. aroma is delicious with huge earthy hops, pine, caraway seeds, grapefruit, and a great caramel sweetness. flavor is outstanding. initially big malty, toasted rye, toffee notes come through that slowly give way to slightly sugary, very piney hops, with a unique toasted caramel finish. mouthfeel is substantial with solid carbonation, nice alcohol presence, and a long lasting bitterness. overall, a great big beer. lucky i got my hands on this one.

Jan 12, 2009 tap at fat heads. Nice aroma, has a dark hops smell to it, that reflects the taste well. Nice dark hop aftertaste, good body, good stuff.

Apr 6, 2009 Draft at Sacramento Brewing Co. Served in a snifter. Murky brown color (kinda like ....) with a nice tan head. Strong hoppy resin aroma. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. There’s roasted malt backbone, but the flavor is all hop - mostly resin, could be some grapefruit. Hop burn! This is the real deal. Finishes towards dryish and very hoppy, though sugar is ever present. A heavy ale. Highly recommended.
