Commercial Description:
This copper-colored IPA is crafted in the English style, but wouldn’t be a Bear Republic beer without our signature hop punch. The firm bitterness and spicy Golding hop aroma is tempered by fine British malts and a soft yeast character.

English IPA Sampled during RBSG 7/11/2009 on tap at the brewery. This IPA pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is orange and floral hops, with a touch of fruit. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy and floral. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Definitely in the English style of IPA. Nice malt flavors. The mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours almost clear and golden orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is mild fruity and vague spiced. Light sweet malt base to a crisp fruity hops note on top. Subdued bitter and slight fruity finish.

On tap at the brewpub in Healdsburg on June 2, 2009. Pours a clear red-orange body with an inch thick, lightly creamed off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a good amount of lacing. Aroma is fatter, English caramels and a nice flowery, slightly resiny hop aroma. A good amount of assorted fruit as well. Flavor is quite hoppy with a nice earthy, floral spice and plenty of balancing caramels. Moderately sweet with a touch of biscuit. Finishes dry with a light resin and plenty of aftertaste. Palate is full and smooth and very clean. Overall, I really liked this a lot. Had a lot of stereotypical English tastes to it as well as a nice, west coast American level of bitterness. Really nice balance. Good one.

Draught at the brewpub during RBSG09. Gold with a big, fluffy head. Aromas of caramel and honey, and floral and spicy hops. The flavor has nice caramel and bready malt with a characteristically English hop flavor and a firmly bitter finish that is nice and dry. Medium bodied. Quite hoppy, yet very smooth and seemingly balanced. As a companion to Racer 5, this is very nice.

I sampled this at the brewpub during RBSG 2009. I really liked this beer. Nicely balanced between hops and malt, I thought it was very well crafted.
