Commercial Description:
This extreme Double Imperial IPA is brewed with 1st gold hops, a cross between UK goldings and a wild English hop. Bitter, malty, with a definite alcohol note, this beer is one of our most assertive and extreme.

Draft at South Park Tavern in Dayton, OH. A big malt presence strikes first, then a mouthful of lovely, bitter, piney hops. This beer gets better as it warms. The fruit comes out along with some heat. An excellent offering from BR.

Pours a deep golden yellow with white head. Nose is mostly floral and citrus hops. Taste is very dry, hints of wheat, light caramel, nice floral hop flavors, fair amount of grapefruit and lemon peel, lots of hop bitterness.

Pours a dark golden ruby/amber color with golden orange hues and a one finger frothy off-white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring that leaves rings of soapy lacing behind. Earthy floral hop aroma with lots of citrus character and dry pine needle. Prominent caramel maltiness in the nose as well with hints of grapefruit, mango and orange peel. Bitter earthy, florl hops up front with subtle dry pine and sweet citrus fruit notes, namely orange peel and grapefruit. The hops are abruptly cut midpalate by prominent sweet alcohol presence and too strong of a malt backbone for my liking. Well balanced with decent drinkability but not the best interpretation of the style.

Yea, This is a big beer, clearly a Double, Imperial IPA, with plenty of hops, a little more to the dry side which is good given the mexican Food.. Cloudy, deep yellow, modest head and lacing.

Tap at Capones. Pours a lightly hazy golden with a smaller bubbly white head that laced. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, other hoppy citrus notes. Flavor of rather bitter intense hop bite, pine, grapefruit and light bready malt notes.

Another DiPA at 95 percentile, imagine that. Pours hazy orange with a medium sized white head and good lace. Smells astringent hoppy with a solid dose of cereal’ish malts. Tastes ok. Hoppy with sweet malts, deep and caramel sweet. Hop bitterness is harsh and astringent, and I like bitterness. Eh, weird. Medium body, vibrant carbonation.

Enjoyed via draft in a pub glass. The beer pours a straw-colored to medium amber color, with a moderate and reasonably long-lasting white head. The aroma carries the obligatory strong notes of west coast American hops. Cascade, Amarillo, and Simcoe seem to make their presence known. Carbonation is medium and fits the beer nicely. The palate is resiny/bitter up front, before moving to some hop flavor in the mid-palate, and some residual bitterness in the finish. Interesting was the lack of malt character. Clearly a significant amount of malt was used, but it lacked the residual flavors of other stronger examples of the style. The aforementioned left a nicely semi-dry finish. Nicely drinkable. Overall, a very well-crafted and styled DIPA.
