Commercial Description:
This is a hoppy IPA. Did I say hops? Your brewer is a hop head! This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this strong brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer’s statement on this style. 2004 L.A. Commercial Brewing Competition, Silver Medal Winner; 2004 World Beer Cup, Silver Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, San Diego, Gold Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, Chicago, Gold Medal Winner; 1999 Great Amercian Beer Festival, Gold Medal Winner - og 1.070, ABV 7.0%, IBU 69. Bottle. IPA has great aroma and and a solid flavor that lasted the entire bottle. These beers are starting to grow on me, still will never become a hophead however.

I shared this with MereLIkesBeer:) 12. oz bottle from Andersons in toledo OH. It pours a hazy straw yellow with small white head. I liked this beer. Very tasty and refreshing, especially given the ABV. MereLikesBeer said it better than me.. Cheers!

This beer poured a hazy dark orangy amber with a off white thin head. There weren’t too many if any bubbles running up the side of my glass and there was a bit of sediment hanging out. There was a big hoppy aroma not overwhelming with any other smells though. This beer tasted great! Very hoppy, not too much of a citrus or smoky taste coming from this beer. Overall I enjoyed it very much. Yay for road trip beers!

Pours a hazy orange with thin white head. Aromia is citrus and piney hops. Flavor hits with bitter hops up front, but smooths out with some caramel malt and citrusy and grassy hops. Mouthfeel is medium and very drinkable. Surprisingly smooth, considering the hops. A very nice IPA.

Pours an orangish amber with medium white head, lots of lacing. Aroma of floral and slight citrus hops, pine, caramel, and strong malt. Flavor matches, but overdone. They just don’t have the combination right or something. Heavy body, slick mouthfeel. Drinkable, but nothing I would go back to.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a slightly hazed amber color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Resin and citrus hops in the aroma with a toffeish and nutty malt backbone. Taste is bitter hops throughout with some citrus, peach and resin. Bitter and sweet... nicely balanced. Medium bodied,

22 oz. bottle. Pours a lovely long lasting thick head, with great lacing, over a very slightly cloudy, golden orange (SRM 15) body....nose redolent of pine, grapefruit, resin.....tastes initially rather sweet, then hop flavors come in with good citrus, pleasant bittering, minimal floral tones....mouth feel is medium, carbonation light. Another in the pantheon of "American" IPA’s, bitter, aromatic, palate cleansing, refreshing and good.

Mmm, delicious. Fresh. Bitter fruit, not cloying. Hoppy but not overwhelming. Very nice IPA. Nothing special in this halcyon period of IPAs, but delicious nonetheless.
