Commercial Description:
This is a hoppy IPA. Did I say hops? Your brewer is a hop head! This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this strong brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer’s statement on this style. 2004 L.A. Commercial Brewing Competition, Silver Medal Winner; 2004 World Beer Cup, Silver Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, San Diego, Gold Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, Chicago, Gold Medal Winner; 1999 Great Amercian Beer Festival, Gold Medal Winner - og 1.070, ABV 7.0%, IBU 69. Bottle - 2008 batch. Pours golden and clear with an ludicrously enormous rocky head that takes forever to go away. I was at a friends house decanting this thing into a little 9oz pilsner glass, and I literally had to wait 20 minutes to drink it. Aroma is of Flavor is sweet, almost sticky, and aggressively bitter. Alcohol is well hidden, but I fear a little extra gravity would not have gone amiss in this beer. The aroma is lacking and the bitterness is overpowering despite its a sturdy and sweet body.

22 oz. bomber bottle. Cloudy, opaque peachy orange with a short but lasting creamy offwhite head. Lovely softly sweet and floral aroma, oddly with some powdered sugar and vanilla notes. For a hop bomb, the flavor is nicely balanced, again with soft, sweet malts countered against strongly bitter hops and some more subtle flowery, perfumy hop notes. Medium bodied and very smooth - almost silky. Really nice IPA; the bottle conditioning gives it a cask-like quality that is most appreciated.

Beautiful orange pour with a solid pure white head. Citrus fruit in the head, mainly oranges with a tangerine back. Very well balanced and one of my favorite IPAs.

Pours a nice orange with a decent white head. Aroma is citrus and floral hops. Flavor comes through with a well balanced caramel to hide the bite of the hops, and the hops aren’t overkill here. Just an added texture to a good beer. Beer is well rounded and done well. Enjoyable.

Kind of surprised it took me so long to finally rate this beer. Pours orange with an off white head. Nice hop aroma of pine, citrus, and a little bit of sweet malt. Great flavor and goes down easy. A classic IPA.

Orange gold with a white head. Apricots and oranges on the nose, plenty of flowery hops and some juniper too. A little maltiness in the taste before the hops roar in. Their big but subtle at the same time. Probably the best tasting hops I’ve ever had. This is a must try.

Dark amber body with a constant bubbling signaling a heavy amount of carbonation. Small diminishing white head. Aroma is very natural floral/hoppy with a slight malt note. The first taste is very smooth and sneaky; this beer is extremely well balanced. The raw bite of heavily hopped beers is not present while you get the full aroma and bitterness profile from the hops. Malt profile is barely present. The disappointing part of this beer is lack of intensity of the taste and the odd earthy taste that is present. While well made, there are some faults, and this can probably stand as a middle of the road IPA. Also, this beer is too sugary, leaving a heavy aftertaste of sucrose.
