Commercial Description:
This is a hoppy IPA. Did I say hops? Your brewer is a hop head! This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this strong brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer’s statement on this style. 2004 L.A. Commercial Brewing Competition, Silver Medal Winner; 2004 World Beer Cup, Silver Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, San Diego, Gold Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, Chicago, Gold Medal Winner; 1999 Great Amercian Beer Festival, Gold Medal Winner - og 1.070, ABV 7.0%, IBU 69. California State Fair Bronze Medal, 1997 Beerfest Invitational. - og 1.070, ABV 7.0%, IBU 69.

This is my first encounter with Bear Republic and I can say they have a good product. Like advertised, this is a very hoppy brew that any IPA lover will appreciate.

22 ounce bottle in the Bayou. It’s cool these guys are in state now. Pours a clear golden color with a thick white head. The aroma is sweet citrus hops, light malt. A smooth hoppy taste, light citrus, nothing harsh, caramel malts. Really quite nice. Refreshing and easy.

Pours golden, opeaque with a froty white head. This is one of the best IPA’s that i had. Full of balance and complex flavors. This is a beer when you drink one, leaves you wanting another. Citurs flavors like grapefruit and lemons, finishing with tangerine and lime. Refrashing and creamy on the palate just a dynamite beer.

Pours a cloudy goild with a thick white head. Aroma of grapefruit and pine. Hoppy, but not overly so. Very nice balance of resinous hops and malt. A solid IPA.

Very fruity floral aroma almost like berries & lavender. Nice dark golden in color. Clean spicy bitter hops flavor upfront that softens with a trailing sweet malt aftertaste. Overall, very complex and enjoyable to drink.

Tap in the rake. Alround rating: Big citrusy character, loads of bitterness, the bodys there but its not full of as much caramalt as im used to meaning the citrusy bitterness seriously dominates. I never thought id say it but it seems a bit too bitter.
