Big piney, grapefruit and rich caramel malty aroma. Big grapefruit flavor, sweet rich malt that overwhelms the initial salty piney hop flavor. These California IPA’s are all starting to taste the same to me... but this one has some nice balance to it and depth. A little touch of honey and some melon juiciness come out later.
Great palate, medium glassy body, slight stickiness and unobtrusive gentle carbonation, the fresh hops sting the mouth a tad a la dreadnaught . robforbes (1099), Bremerton, Washington, USA

~Nice sweet hoppy aroma. Grapefruit hop and sweet malty scent. Mouth watering.
~Light grapefruit taste, good amount of grassy hop flavor and a delicious amount of sweeness.
~Medium feel, a bit sticky, acidic bitter finish.
~Mmmm delicious IPA. One of my favorites. I enjoy the sweetness. Helps balance out the strong bitterness. AdamGott (190), Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 28, 2008 golden yellow pour with a slight orange tint - smells like a bucket of fresh hops - tastes like liquid hop flowers with a slight malty taste in the background. I think that this is pretty close to a one-dimensional hop bomb though. It would be nice to have this as an imperial IPA to get that rich malty backbone in the flavor profile. changeup45 (798), Orlando, Florida, USA

Orange colored, pours with a nice off-white head and a little bit of retention. Aroma is wonderful, floral with loads of pine needles and hops. The flavor follows suit, citrusy with a blast of pine needles and hops up front. Crisp and bitter in the finish. There’s a syrupy malt base that is noticed more as the beer warms a little. This is terrific stuff and a true top notch IPA. Re-rate, a little more malt than I remember and not quite as in your face with the hops. Still a good IPA. vanrassel (30), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 26, 2008 A dense, one-finger head topped a hazy, goldish-coppery body — OK considering it’s bottle-conditioned. Piney and citrus hops dominated the aroma, and figured large in the flavour, but this is no one-dimensional hop bomb. Grapefruity Cascade hops leave little doubt this is a northwest IPA, but there’s a nice caramel malt flavour to balance and a lingering dry finish.
