Commercial Description:
This is a hoppy IPA. Did I say hops? Your brewer is a hop head! This is a full bodied beer using American grains. The goal was to create a base for showing off the unique floral qualities of two Pacific Northwest hops, Columbus and Cascade. Columbus is a new hybrid High Alpha Acid hop used mostly for bittering, but used heavily as an aromatic in this strong brew. Cascade is the balance that ties the malt and bittering hops together. It is a true specialty ale and is our brewer’s statement on this style. 2004 L.A. Commercial Brewing Competition, Silver Medal Winner; 2004 World Beer Cup, Silver Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, San Diego, Gold Medal Winner; 2001 Real Ale Festival, Chicago, Gold Medal Winner; 1999 Great Amercian Beer Festival, Gold Medal Winner - og 1.070, ABV 7.0%, IBU 69. Picked up a bomber of this at Vintage Cellar in Blacksburg, VA and am I glad I did. Orange colored, pours with a nice off-white head and a little bit of retention. Aroma is wonderful, floral with loads of pine needles and hops. The flavor follows suit, citrusy with a blast of pine needles and hops up front. Crisp and bitter in the finish. There’s a syrupy malt base that is noticed more as the beer warms a little. This is terrific stuff and a true top notch IPA. Re-rate, a little more malt than I remember and not quite as in your face with the hops. Still a good IPA.

A dense, one-finger head topped a hazy, goldish-coppery body — OK considering it’s bottle-conditioned. Piney and citrus hops dominated the aroma, and figured large in the flavour, but this is no one-dimensional hop bomb. Grapefruity Cascade hops leave little doubt this is a northwest IPA, but there’s a nice caramel malt flavour to balance and a lingering dry finish.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a nice copper color with a good deal of floaties. Thin, white head. Decent bit of lacing. Really nice citrus hop aroma. Flavor is a bit of caramel malt with a ton of citrus hops. Long, lightly bitter finish. Really nice beer.

light amber pour, thick frothy off white head. Citrusy hop aroma. Very aromatic. Mouthfeel is pleasant, very smooth. hops are strong but not overpowering. Very drinkable and well ballanced. Notes of citrus at the end, grapefruit. Delectable.

Pale golden thick foamy off white head. Nice floral a bit sweet with a biting spicy bitterness. A really good strong but quite drinkable IPA. Hints of citrus.

bomber. Pours a clear, golden amber with a thin white head. Nose is sweet with citrus and pine hops. Taste is of citrus, orange rind to be exact, with caramel malt to balance. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy with a good bitter aftertaste. Very nice for a hop head like me.

Poured a slightly hazy medium copper pour that formed a nice creamy head that stuck for a while. Lots of grapefruit hoppiness in the aroma and flavor. A bit of caramel malt balances things nicely. Above average carbonation feels good on the palate. good bitter finish. For the price, a really good IPA.
