Commercial Description:
The brew of choice for mountain bikers, and adventurous types worldwide. (Are you excited now!) This fiery red ale is not for the weak at heart. It originally started out as a Scottish red ale but has taken on flavors of its own. This is a very complex recipe using five different grains to achieve it's unique flavor. The caramel malt used is a mixture of Belgian Caravienne and Hugh Bairds Crystal malts. Red Rocket is a full bodied, hoppy brew which finishes on the pallet with caramel malts. Centennial and Cascade hops are used for bittering and aroma.2004 L.A. Pours from the bottle to a brownish hue with hints of ruby and a medium thick off-white head that lasts awhile and leaves okay lacing. Immediately out of the bottle is a strong nose of malty dark druit infused nicely with hops, and as the beer warms, it is joined by the scent of the alcohol. Mouthfeel is tingly and full and the taste is even a more pronounced malty fruit blended with hops, with hints of nuts, caramel and again, the alcohol. Finish is long, full and somewhat bitter. A darn good beer.

Poured reddish brown with a white head. Aroma of citrus. More hoppy than malty. Some caramel.

Poured into a snifter, it’s bright red amber with dark cherry tones and plenty of fluffy tan foam with good retention. Hops definitely come through the aroma, nice florals on top of caramel. I served it a little warm, but I get that citrus rind bitterness up front, then settle into substantial breadyness, delicately sweet. Medium bodied that holds up pretty well. Nice brew. I don’t think I’ve had one from Bear Republic that I didn’t like. Great for the price at around $7.

Bear Republic Red Rocket Ale exhibits a dark red hue along with a large, frothy tan head. Very hoppy and strong like an Arrogant Bastard Ale. The aroma was primarily of hops. Flavors of barley, bitter hops and cherry hints provide plenty of entertainment during a sip.

Great beer and my personal favorite of BR’s line-up. Slightly sweet and balanced masterfully to enhance the copper tone of the delicious amber colour and the hoppy, caramel, piney goodness. Do you think I enjoyed this? Oh my dear...

Bottle. Pours more like a brown rocket than a red one... sure there is a lot of reddish highlighting, but generally, I’d call it brown. Head is fairly small, fluffy and tan. Aromas are very nice... quite a bit of sweet malt caramel and the like with a good dose of hops mixed in... pineapple and oranges seem to be the main hops aromas. First reaction is that mouthfeel is thick and kind of dusty/grainy. This strikes me even before the flavors are detected. As for the flavor, however, things are much like the nose predicted. Maybe a little more of a grainy sweetness up front and maybe a little bit of a sharper pine bite in the finish. Still, this is pretty good brew.

The aroma has tea, prunes, caramel, citrus, pine, and fruit. The appearance is deep amber with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter sweet finish. The palate is average. Overall this is a very very good beer.

good beer, the aroma smeels a bit like fresh pencils, and other wood aroma. taste is highly black tea with a touch of maple syrup. harsh bitterness at the end. still very good overall.
