Commercial Description:
The brew of choice for mountain bikers, and adventurous types worldwide. (Are you excited now!) This fiery red ale is not for the weak at heart. It originally started out as a Scottish red ale but has taken on flavors of its own. This is a very complex recipe using five different grains to achieve it's unique flavor. The caramel malt used is a mixture of Belgian Caravienne and Hugh Bairds Crystal malts. Red Rocket is a full bodied, hoppy brew which finishes on the pallet with caramel malts. Centennial and Cascade hops are used for bittering and aroma.2004 L.A. I shared a bottle of this a while back with tjthresh. I am not sure if I rated it and didn’t ever enter it or if I just didn’t bother. 22oz bottle bought right here on the KS side of the metro. Served in a smokestack chalice. A fair amount of sweet caramelly malt and fragrant, piney hops are present in the aroma, along with a little chocolate. Big bodied, but nicely balanced at the end. The flavor is more malt-centric at first, showcasing the caramelly malts, but is quickly followed by piney and earthy hops that bring a nice amount of bitterness. The finish is lingering bitterness. It is good, but it just seems like a little bit much of everything, sometimes I like the hops to shine and sometimes I like the malt to shine.

A pretty damn good red. Creamy head, red hops with a solid IBU, goes down quick. Shows how a mix of European and Continental hops is a marriage of love.

Aroma: Low levels of dark malt with some sweetness, fruity and earthy hop notes. Appearance: Good clarity, darker red color with ok head retention and lacing Flavor: Sweet maltiness with pervading earthy hop flavor, finishes with substantial hop bitterness Palate: Medium bodied, bitterness is high, chalky finish Overall Impression: Tastes like an aged IPA. Not malty enough for a Scotch Ale, not hoppy enough for an IPA (bitterness is there, needs more hop flavor/aroma). Ok beer with nothing that stands our, not particularly memorable

Pours brown with a light brown head. Smells of citrus, hops, and earthy tones. Pine, dirt and earth flavor. Bitter hop finish with a slight sweetness.

Brown/cherry color, dark & beautiful. Head builds up, then just hangs there like a runny nose. Hoppie aroma. Sweet grapefruit also tickles the nostrils. Bitter is the 1st taste I get. Thats good. Me like the bitter. Smooth yet light texture. Smells like it tastes. Yum! Taste lingers on the after exhales. Nice. Not bad. Not the best.

22 oz bottle. A true redhead. Hops with a little caramel, malt balance. Lingering hops aftertaste with grapefruit. Another really good beer from a brewery that takes its mission seriously.

I am surprised how much hop flavor and citrus comes though in the flavor. A thin lacing of foam covers this burnt red colored brew. The color is very nice. It has a very nice dry hoppy flavor, but also has some nice roasted coffee flavor like a good porter. This beer is quite good.

22 oz bottle. Nice, deep ruby color with a thin tannish white head. Low carbonation. Not much interest in the nose. The beer tastes a little toasty and bitter. It seemed light-bodied, like a decent session beer, but at 6.8% it is a little strong to drink too many. I wasn’t impressed or dissapointed.
