Commercial Description:
The brew of choice for mountain bikers, and adventurous types worldwide. (Are you excited now!) This fiery red ale is not for the weak at heart. It originally started out as a Scottish red ale but has taken on flavors of its own. This is a very complex recipe using five different grains to achieve it's unique flavor. The caramel malt used is a mixture of Belgian Caravienne and Hugh Bairds Crystal malts. Red Rocket is a full bodied, hoppy brew which finishes on the pallet with caramel malts. Centennial and Cascade hops are used for bittering and aroma.2004 L.A. 22 oz...dark amber with a thick foamy tan head...malt and grassy hop aroma, some sweet citrus...initial pine and citrus taste with a smooth bitter bite...lightly sweet semi bitter finish...refreshing brew....very easy drinking...there’s a lot going on with this beer without too much confusing complexity...great beer to break into after a 3 day break

Very hoppy aroma. A deep red/amber color with not too much head when poured. Almost looks like cherry coke. Smooth, strong taste with some non citrus fruit and malt flavor to it. not so sure about the cinnamon taste some others found. Taste was great though and it does not linger. If you like hop stuffed beers, i would definitely try this one. descent price too. picked up the bottle for $3.99

Bottle. This deep, dark, ruby brown ale is huge on flavor. There is a nice hoppy zing, warming alcohol, and toasty coffee and burnt chocolate notes. The bite is long and hard staying right through the finiish of this beer.

Brown and sedimented with a big, dimpled tan head. Aroma is sweet, brown and hoppy with tangerine notes. Taste is roasty and nutty with a sweet and slightly cloying edge. Solid bittering component stays with you, in addition to a mildly vegetal flavoring. $5/22oz

This beer is a gem, fantastic in all categories. Pours an opaque mahogany/dark brown color with a thick tan head and plenty of lacing. Aroma is a strong blend of grapefruit, citrus and burnt malts including hints of strawberries and black licorice. Sharp, malty mouth feel that quickly becomes pleasantly bitter. Full bodied with a smooth harshness. Intense and complex flavors with an upfront hop medley of pine and citrus. Musty-sweet toasted malts develop into a complexity of plums, coffee, toast, and molasses. Then the hops show up again in a longing aftertaste. This beer is a great marriage of styles, and it’s done in a wonderful fashion.

Pours a deep amber-brown color with a frothy head that fades to patches. Aroma is smoky and a little fruity with traces of malts and hops. The aroma is somewhat subtle but a complex scent. The flavors up front are roasted malts and oak with bitter fruity hops hitting the palate on the back end providing a nice well-rounded taste. Gets a bit more toasty as it warms. Very nice and easy drinking. Re-rate 9/27/08 courtesy of zythum. Not a whole lot that needs to be added. The smoked-roasted malty flavor with a generous dose of bitter hops make this thing really tasty. A couple minor adjustments in the ratings. I really like this one.

A burgundy beer with light-brown head that slightly laces. Aroma of hops. Medium bodied beer with hops and malty caramel hints. Bitter finish. This is just a damn tasty beer that will satisfy the hop requirements of any hophead.

Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in McKinney, TX. Purs a nice clear very deep red/orange with nice beige head, very good retention and laced glass. Aroma of obvious hops and malt. Flavor is semi-sweet with nice hoppy grapfruit notes. Mouthfeel is nice, medium body with medium carbonation.....this is a very nicely balanced strong ale.....GOOD!!!
