Commercial Description:
The brew of choice for mountain bikers, and adventurous types worldwide. (Are you excited now!) This fiery red ale is not for the weak at heart. It originally started out as a Scottish red ale but has taken on flavors of its own. This is a very complex recipe using five different grains to achieve it's unique flavor. The caramel malt used is a mixture of Belgian Caravienne and Hugh Bairds Crystal malts. Red Rocket is a full bodied, hoppy brew which finishes on the pallet with caramel malts. Centennial and Cascade hops are used for bittering and aroma.2004 L.A. Ehh. Lacking in the taste department. Pours a mahog color with a small yellow head. Smells like malt and hops. Taste is very bitter with roasted malt and hops. Kinda a messy representation of the ASA style. Harsh fizzy mouth feel.

Nice reddish color with a creamy head. Aroma is heavy with rye, piney hops, caramel, and assorted grains. Flavor is a bit too medicinal with a faded pine/floral hop mix slightly present. Rye/ malts are decent - I think this bottle may have been better fresh, although I’m not sure how long ago that was. Not bad, but nowhere near the Hop rod or some of thier other brews.

This is an excellent, complex, very satisfying beer. It is somewhat dark red brown with a fairly good-sized tan head that lasts, slowly diminishing to a smaller, but complete, head and leaving some good lacing. The aroma is wonderful, strong, very aromatic, sweet, and pleasant, with flowery, piney hops over a base of caramel, malt and yeast. The taste is similar to the aroma. It has definite, strong hop bitterness, but this accompanies great, floral-pine flavour, and rich, caramel-malt sweetness.

Pours with a light brown, three-finger head that goes slowly to a thin layer, leaving a good lace. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Cloudy amber color. Nose is hoppy. Flavor is smooth, slight sweetness then a balanced to a hoppy finish. Lingering bitter aftertaste. $4.55 for a 22oz bottle from Colonial Spirits, Acton, MA.

Poured a deep amber/red hue with a small soapy head. Bright floral hoppy nose with a small yet well-accompanied malt spine. Smooth and silky mouth feel makes this a winner!

Poured a dark red with almost no head. This beer is full of hops, but not so much that it made it too bitter. Definately differnet for a stong ale.

Poured with little to no head, but had a great, smooth taste on the palate for a hoppy brew. The dark red color drew my eyes back to the glass for more.
