Commercial Description:
The brew of choice for mountain bikers, and adventurous types worldwide. (Are you excited now!) This fiery red ale is not for the weak at heart. It originally started out as a Scottish red ale but has taken on flavors of its own. This is a very complex recipe using five different grains to achieve it's unique flavor. The caramel malt used is a mixture of Belgian Caravienne and Hugh Bairds Crystal malts. Red Rocket is a full bodied, hoppy brew which finishes on the pallet with caramel malts. Centennial and Cascade hops are used for bittering and aroma.2004 L.A. A nice American strong. Aroma of mostly caramel and malt. Pour was a medium murky brown with a little off white ring for a head. Taste starts as caramel and malt, then a little smokiness hits the taste buds. After the swallow there is some hoppiness and the back of the throat and tongue are left bittered. Very nice and well balanced.

mahogany color, active tall head. aroma reminds me of a campfire; burnt wet pine/fir and burnt sap. moderately heavy mouth feel, cotton, and a tickle of the characteristics of a good scotch brew with a cruncy hop bite. i have to say, while re-rating this, Skeegle’s post was the most recent and it convinced me to bump the appearance up to a 5. Good call on the neon amber dude, this really is a great looking beer.

reddish brown color with medium dense tan head. caramel pine aroma with some bitter orange to it. medium to light syrupy body and a light carbonation. citric pine resin flavor with a nutty roasted caramel maltiness. fairly light bitterness for the style. good and not too heavy, surprisingly drinkable and goes down like a pale ale

This beer pours a deep deep mahogany almost black with a thin tan head leaving some decent lacing down the sides. The smell is of nice beet sugars and hops and the flavor totally emulates this. This really is not that bad of a beer! It’s got a strong malt flavor but is equally balanced by the hops. I thought by the smell this would be more malty and less hoppy. Glad I was wrong! This is a very drinkable beer! Cheers!

The aroma from the bottle issued the promise of something approaching Bastardly, and was much a letdown afterward. Once in the glass an less concentrated, the aroma barely presented itself; as nice as its Bastardly tone was, it lacks volume. Appearance is the best part: actually living up to the Bastardly promise, with much lacing. The main delivery is lackluster, like 1 parts Bastard mixed with 1 parts water. Body very watery.

(bottle): Pours a dark brown reddish color, dark white head, average, diminishing. Very pine hoppy aroma, some alcohol. Sweet, slight grapefruity smell. Sweet taste, slightly syrupy. Taste of pine. Slightly heavy body, bubbly, good mouthfeel. Okay.
