Commercial Description:
The brew of choice for mountain bikers, and adventurous types worldwide. (Are you excited now!) This fiery red ale is not for the weak at heart. It originally started out as a Scottish red ale but has taken on flavors of its own. This is a very complex recipe using five different grains to achieve it's unique flavor. The caramel malt used is a mixture of Belgian Caravienne and Hugh Bairds Crystal malts. Red Rocket is a full bodied, hoppy brew which finishes on the pallet with caramel malts. Centennial and Cascade hops are used for bittering and aroma.2004 L.A. Bottle. Poured Teak red with a fast dissipating head. Aroma of hops, candy and caramel. Much caramel and hops in the flavour, with a hoppy tang on the tongue. Lingering finish that lasts forever.. Edited for spelling

22 oz bottle. Had this after a Lucid absinthe (blech!) before the Phillies-Braves stinker. Clear amber with a tan glacial head that leaves a patch to the bottom. Simple nose of caramel orange. Almost syrupy orange toffee with a grapefruit brulée hop kick. Tiny, tingley carb. Rye-peat drying. Sticky, sort of barleywinish. Good.

Beers pours a deep amber with a clear, frothy white head. Very aromatic hops greet the nose with citrus notes. A big malt odor lurks behind the floral hoppiness with a slight metallic tinge the only negative. Oily hoppiness rolls onto the tongue with an orange peel flavor and medium bitterness. The thin malt flavor is overwhelmed by the hops but still detectable during the middle of a mouthful. But when the brew heads for the back of the mouth, a moderate astringency and stronger hop bitterness quickly drown out the malt. The metallic note in the nose becomes apparent to the palate on the aftertaste. I really didn’t much care for this one.

Pours dark brown-amber with moderate fluffy tan head. Strong citrus hop presence in the nose balanced with caramel and toffee malts and a hint of alcohol. Flavor is smokey with nice bitter hops and a smooth malt backbone. Nice creamy mouthfeel. Not overly complex, but delicious nonetheless.

Damn, this is good. Great balance with an edge towards hoppy. Fnishes pretty flowery and hoppy too but as it warms up the hoppiness diminshes.. Seems like it should be classified as an amber if it were my decision. Glad I got a good balanced brew to mix into my regular rotation.

draft- sticky, red, malty brew (don’t really get the carmel malt decribed in some of the ratings), with some big time piney bitterness. Yum.

A really good copper ale, very similar to Lagunitas Lucky 13. Picked it up in SF on a road trip. Caramel malt with semi-aggressive hops. Solid brew.
