Commercial Description:
The brew of choice for mountain bikers, and adventurous types worldwide. (Are you excited now!) This fiery red ale is not for the weak at heart. It originally started out as a Scottish red ale but has taken on flavors of its own. This is a very complex recipe using five different grains to achieve it's unique flavor. The caramel malt used is a mixture of Belgian Caravienne and Hugh Bairds Crystal malts. Red Rocket is a full bodied, hoppy brew which finishes on the pallet with caramel malts. Centennial and Cascade hops are used for bittering and aroma.2004 L.A. This is only my second Bear Republic. Racer 5 is a specail ale that is one of my go to IPA’s. Rocket Ale pours dark and with a smallish head. This a complex ale more like a hopped up red ale. The deep maghogany color and bitter hops flavors was great. The spicy aroma gave a hint this was going to be a ride.

Pours ruby red with a tan head. Smells of dark fruit, some spicy hints, velvety hoppy hints, some citrus. Tastes resiny and sweet with a sticky palate.

Bottle. Pours deep, deep red (nearly maroon--it’s gorgeous). Very thin tannish head. Aroma is extremely pleasant; hints of caramel and perhaps raisin or other dried fruit. Flavor is complex, yet subtle. Body is medium, with a rich, creamy complexion. Absolutely fantastic ale.

Bottle at Monks Café, Wallingatan, Stockholm. Deep reddish brown color with a rich firm tan-coloured foam. Rich hoppy aroma of lychee, resin and pink grapefruit with sweetish undertones of black cherries and caramel. Medium-bodied with notes of caramel, black cherries, grapefruit, resin, mint and crackers. Long bitter finish of grapefruit, grass, resin and burnt caramel.

A reddish-brown beer with a 1 finger head. A nice hoppy aroma with some spice. The taste was fruity hops, a dash of caramel, & a dash of chocolate with the bitterness coming in the end.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep dark ruby with hints of orange. Foamy light tan head, decent lacing. Smell of pine hops, spicy cinnamon and caramel. Deep sweetness that is pretty complex almost giving hints of umami and soy, then followed by a sharp clean bitterness. A bit dry on the tongue and a long lasting funky bitterness deep at the back of the tongue.

Pours a deep, dark red with a light cream colored head. I loved this a lot, it’s balanced, yet bold. The big bitter pine hops in the finish are the most noticable aspect, but up front there’s a great sweet fruity caramel flavor with a touch of spice to it.
