Commercial Description:
The brew of choice for mountain bikers, and adventurous types worldwide. (Are you excited now!) This fiery red ale is not for the weak at heart. It originally started out as a Scottish red ale but has taken on flavors of its own. This is a very complex recipe using five different grains to achieve it's unique flavor. The caramel malt used is a mixture of Belgian Caravienne and Hugh Bairds Crystal malts. Red Rocket is a full bodied, hoppy brew which finishes on the pallet with caramel malts. Centennial and Cascade hops are used for bittering and aroma.2004 L.A. 22 oz. bottle from Bottleworks in Seattle. Pour is reddish brown with a normal off white head. Aroma is resinous grassy hops and earthy malts. Taste is initially resinous hops but move to malt in the middle and finish with pine hoppiness. There is some dry / sweet fruitiness (dates, sweet raisins) in their as well. Nice brew.

Pours caremel reddish with short head. Strong malty chocolate flavor with nice hops. Slightly astringent, but altogether vey drinkable. I’ll have this one again.

22oz bottle. Aroma: Big hop nose with notes of pine, citrus, and resin. Malt comes through more as it warms with notes of caramel, bread, and chocolate. Appearance: Dark reddish brown in color and opaque. Medium beige head was full and foamy with good retention. Nice lacing. Flavor: Roasted malt with notes of caramel, dark fruits, and bread. Hops come on strong with pine and resin, and a good citrus note. Medium-high bitterness leads to a medium-sweet finish. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: Loved the play of malt vs. hops. Hops are the focus, but doesn’t overbalance.

Dark amber, large rocky head with good lacing and retention. Aroma is strong PNW hops (grapefruit mostly) with some chococaramel malts. Medium to full body, fairly predictable hopping, but the malts made this somewhat interesting. No matter what, it’s well made and enjoyable.

Full bodied with the some of the best flavors. I like the way it looks in a tall glass, the color is beautiful. First taste and I was hooked.

Nose of flowers, pine, pine, pine and pine. How about an Evergreen Mountainside? Pours cola brown with ruby amber highlights. The lovely cascade produces a tight creamy bone head that is mostly lasting and leaves lace like spiderwebbing. The flavor is consistantly bitter with moderate acidity. The huge roasted and bitter floral finish is impressive. The thick body is creamy and soft. The finish feels dry. Bear Republic has emerged as another serious player in the world of microbrewing.

Dark ruby red color with lasting tan frothy head with lacing. Big citrus hop/caramel malt aroma. Flavor is nutty malt and big full, well-developed hops. Heavily bodied, finishes more on the sweet side. Kind of a Scottish/American Amber Ale mix.
