Commercial Description:
The brew of choice for mountain bikers, and adventurous types worldwide. (Are you excited now!) This fiery red ale is not for the weak at heart. It originally started out as a Scottish red ale but has taken on flavors of its own. This is a very complex recipe using five different grains to achieve it's unique flavor. The caramel malt used is a mixture of Belgian Caravienne and Hugh Bairds Crystal malts. Red Rocket is a full bodied, hoppy brew which finishes on the pallet with caramel malts. Centennial and Cascade hops are used for bittering and aroma.2004 L.A. Bottle. Deep red brown in color, very little head, lots of particles floating around. Aroma is malts, dark fruits, yeast, caramel & brown sugar, and maybe a hint of grassy hops. Flavor is sweet malts, caramel, brown sugar, hints of dark frutis, a little bready, and then finishes with a nice smattering of hoppy bitterness. Really like this ale, very drinkable. Well done.

Bought it at Whole Foods in Sacramento. Pours a redish brown color. Nice sweetness of the malts at the beginning, then it is followed by slight bitterness of the hops. Very well brewed.

From a bottle. Pours a dark red/brown with a little head and lots of lacing. Aroma is brown sugar and hops. Mouthfeel is thick. Hops are prevalent with a good amount of bitterness. I like this beer but it quite get a top tier rating. It could use a little more flavor balance. I could mainly taste the hops and not much else. Either way, I would drink again and can tell it’s very high quality.

Dark amber, a lightly spiced sweetish aroma. Big, big malt taste with very light smoke. Thick and chewy, like an ice cream soda.

Pours reddish brown into the glass with a slightly off white head. Aroma is nice hops with some caramel malt. Really love the flavor and balance of this beer. Lots of bitterness yet very soft on the palate with plenty of sweet caramel malt. Really great brew from these guys.

This beer pours a deep mahogany almost black with a thin tan head leaving some decent lacing down the sides. The smell is of nice beet sugars and hops and the flavor totally emulates this. I am not a huge hops guy, but this really is not that bad of a beer! It’s got a strong hops flavor but is equally balanced by the malts. I thought by the smell this would be more malty and less hoppy, which was a bit of a letdown for mw, but still a great brew.
