Taverner (442), San Ramon, California, USA Jun 18, 2008 On tap at Papago. Foamy, red and roasted. Not much aroma, but there’s a good deal of malts and roastiness in the nose. Lots of bittering hops in this one.
jstraw (440), Oak Park, Illinois, USA Sep 6, 2008 Bottle at Jerry’s. Brown-black with good, foamy beige head / Nose of sweet malt and caramel / Medium to full body, chewy, with just a touch of residual sweetness and good, hoppy finish / Flavors of caramel, dry hops, bittersweet chocolate, and light grapefruit notes / Should compare well to a dry stout. BREWMUSKCLES (760), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey, USA Sep 5, 2008 WETHER or not a strong ale i could argue that one , but beyond contention is that this is FINE beer! wonderful hop aroma cold it is refreshing slick and berry sweet with holly berriies and pine needles and cones and hops in the finest sense surrounded by a wonderful yeastiness of the palate infused with a caramel honey vanilla sweetness so genuine as to make you understand you are fortunate. proves to me that you could name a brew ’belly lint" and so what its the beer that counts! disagree with more than a couple of beers with really high ratings won’t disagree here exCept maybe this is a 99! FANTASTIC! joekinty (208), rockledge, Florida, USA Sep 5, 2008 red rocket ale is a very good ale is it pale is it red is it a rocket i dont know but it taste really good aromatic hops slap you like a big red rocket with some pete and slight smoke orange and toffee The_Captain (296), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 2, 2008 Brought from a Cali-trip, Thanks Gary. Nice deep amber brown pour with a tight foam head. Great grain, malt flavors and slight spice/citrus texture. A nice hop and caramel blend sort of ties it all together. It’s got layers and levels-complex and well done. rajendra82 (642), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2008 This beer was picked up at Green’s in Greenville, South Carolina recently, and the pour looked a lovely shade of burgundy, and was capped by a dense but smallish head. The smell was citric hoppy, with undertones of red apples. The taste was tart, bitter, slightly peaty, and very hearty. The flavors were strong, but beautifully complimentary, and it was hard to put it down for typing this review. The mouthfeel was creamy and soft, and the aftertaste showcased the flavors ina slow fade. A beautifully crafted symphony, this was a very enjoyable experience while is lasted.
