Commercial Description:
The brew of choice for mountain bikers, and adventurous types worldwide. (Are you excited now!) This fiery red ale is not for the weak at heart. It originally started out as a Scottish red ale but has taken on flavors of its own. This is a very complex recipe using five different grains to achieve it's unique flavor. The caramel malt used is a mixture of Belgian Caravienne and Hugh Bairds Crystal malts. Red Rocket is a full bodied, hoppy brew which finishes on the pallet with caramel malts. Centennial and Cascade hops are used for bittering and aroma.2004 L.A. Pours a dark and clear amber. Nose is barely existent, mostly simple syrup and old hops. Taste is basic sweet malt base, hop bitterness, not much hop flavor, decent, but nothing special.

A very deep ruby body with a negligible dark tan head, very fruity (think plums) nose, and a strong hoppy flavor, but a complex finish

On tap at The Rake, Borough. Too sweet. But some good grapefruit hops. Took me an hour to drink this. But ended up liking it a lot. Sweetish, but very likeable.

bottle thanks to Treborwhip, pours dark amber with a tall light tan head. Aroma is light toast and alcohol with lots of nice hop notes. This is like a scotch ale amped up on hops. Nice sweet bready malts with tons of pine and citrus hop notes ending dry with lots of nice bitterness on the tongue. I really liked this......thanks Dad!

Pours a deep ruby/brown color forming a nice craggy off beige foamy head, aroma of roasted malts, hops and ocean water. Flavour was much of the same, a hopped up porter/Scottish ale, extremely drinkable beer.

Bottle, 6.8% ABV, RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. Beautiful reddish brown colour, low off-white head. Excellent aroma and flavour with vinous and oaky notes, also strong notes of American hops. Very good! ("Beer of the Gathering" for me.)
