Lots of alcohol in the nose and palate, but balanced by a good amount of hops, a hoppy malt liquor. Ernest (4491), Boulder, Colorado, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 2, 2004 Some corn, but not really DMS-like. A little buttery though. Very smooth and thickish, with a corn-syrup sweetness that was a bit much at times. Big hop bitterness helped out a little. Overall, much more drinkable than most other malt liquors I've had. The pour an unclouded golden amber color with a medium sized head that is spumous in texture and the color a bright white and the resultant lace a velum like curtain to conceal the glass. Nose has strong malt sweetness, light hop floral tone, crisp, clean and fresh to the senses with the start rich in malt, sweet and the top moderate in feel. Finish has a prickly acidity and the hops purposeful in their bite, very dry and lingering aftertaste, quite a good beer, and bear Republic a long time favorite brewery.
