Gusler (2656), Tucson, Arizona, USA Dec 11, 2003 Sampled @ Strong Ale Fest San Diego
The pour an unclouded golden amber color with a medium sized head that is spumous in texture and the color a bright white and the resultant lace a velum like curtain to conceal the glass. Nose has strong malt sweetness, light hop floral tone, crisp, clean and fresh to the senses with the start rich in malt, sweet and the top moderate in feel. Finish has a prickly acidity and the hops purposeful in their bite, very dry and lingering aftertaste, quite a good beer, and bear Republic a long time favorite brewery.
21iceman40 (1671), north little rock, Arkansas, USA Dec 11, 2003 Aww yea, i go to a beer fest and i get graced with of all things, a tremendous malt liqour. Has the sweetness of malt, but no corn. Doesnt taste like fuel, yet has some punch to it. Where's my paper bag? unclebleen (620), California, USA Apr 1, 2004 Having tried two "high-end" malts in 2 days (the other being pizza ports brown bag malt) I have to say this is second to pizza port's as far as malts go. Pours a vibrant gold color with a nice creamy off-white head. Aroma is very mild with some cookie notes. Flavor is almost too sweet with some candy notes evident. Body is extremely syrupy. I'd have to say this reminded me more of a malt liquor than did pizza ports version, so I guess it's closer to style but not quite as good of beer overall. But not bad either. motelpogo (4124), Plzen, Czech Republic Jun 10, 2004 tap@brewery. not sure why they’d name a beer after an australian radio station. piney aroma, a pretty hefty kero burn in the finish which reminded me of the time i drank some lamp oil that i was told was lemongrass liqueur. despite those bad memories i enjoyed it Vac (2253), San Diego, California, USA Apr 3, 2004 This malt liquor pours with a deep golden body topped by a thin head with little lacing. The aroma is sweet and hoppy with slight malty notes and a nice grapefruit note. The flavor is slightly sweet, grapefruity and hoppy with piney notes and a sweet maltiness. Medium to full boddied, smooth and slighlty dry.
