| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 5, 2008 Pour is an orange with a small soapy white head. Aroma has some sweet malts with a bit of hops and honey. Flavor is pleanty of sweet malts and that’s about it. Where are the hops? Finish leaves a caramel on the tounge but ends up watery overall. For a APA this is a very low hop profile with not much else to carry this one. Stick to the rye beer this brewer puts out. Metalhead (571), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 30, 2008 This is a beer that is all looks and little substance. Great head, great lacing but.. umm where’s the flavor I expect from this brewer? Lightly hopped and crisp but at $5 a bomber = $16 a sixer I would call this a try it once beer when there is so much better out there.’ Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 30, 2008 Bottle from Belmont Station in Portland--Poured a shiny hazed golden hue with a handsome full white head. Spicy, fruity, floral, hoppy, bready nose. Crisp, fresh and borderline IPA. An animal unto itself. Greatly enjoyable multi-purpose brewha. NachlamSie (1644), Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 27, 2008 Bomber. Pours a hazy copper with a very tall white head. Hah, the aroma is basically identical to Racer 5, just less intense. Solid, defined citrus and accessible caramelly malts are noted. The hops are pretty tasty and certainly American, though never really overwhelming. A fair level of sweetness is present for balance. The finish is fairly dry. This is pretty solid, I can use more hops, but hey. It’s a decent APA for sure. jlf278 (255), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 26, 2008 Was thinking this would be a bit stronger with the name XP Pale Ale. Well, it turns out it’s not any stronger, just pretty darn tasty. I noticed a lot of fruit flavors and a good clean finish. This is a great pale ale that I will be missing back on the East Coast. Oh well. apshah99 (145), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 24, 2008 Copper pour with thick frothy head, aroma of fruit and hops. Taste is slightly sour (in a pleasing way) with nice crisp bittering hops on the finish. Good carbonation. This is a very smooth, solid beer, Quite enjoyable after an afternoon of yardwork. xmarcnolanx (798), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 23, 2008 Aroma is a lot of pale malts and fruity esters- but almost a banana, not red fruit, kind of esters.
Some sourness and hops also.
Taste is hoppy up front, some hay, pine bitterness, and finishes crisp and dry. This is really solid. Jmichael (633), Asheville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2008 Pours a amber pale with full white head, light hop presence in aroma, good refreshing palate with smooth hoppy background, a good smooth pale that refreshes and provides the body that is appreciated
