Commercial Description:
"XP" is the abbreviation for Exceptional Pale Ale. This is our interpretation of a classic pale ale. Our "XP" (exceptional pale) has a golden color, and is very light bodied with a noticeable hop aroma and bittering element that just teases the hopheads but satisfies the newest of microbrewed ale drinkers. This beer is brewed with American Two Row, English wheat, Belgian, and Dextrin malts. Mix this with just the right amounts of Cascade and Centennial hops and you've got a winner!!

Pours a light yellow with a creamy white head. Very light aroma. Bright flavors, nice balance, bit of fizz to the palate, dry citrus finish. It’s not nearly as distinctive as other Bear Republics, but a very drinkable pale.

Bottle, Whole Foods Lincoln Park. Pour is a nice clear copper with offwhite head. Nose is full of hops, a bit earthy, mostly citric and piney. Very quenching taste, full of C-hop crispness and crunch. Very easy drinking and non-pretentious. An excellent session ale. Now if only it came in six packs. Very nice.

Pours a clear copper with a thin white head. Nice aroma of malt and some citrus hops. Good citrus flavor and some nice balance. A decent pale ale, nothing amazing though. Worth a try.

Bomber, has a clear medium to dark gold with a hint of copper and red, has a full foamy white head that leaves sticky lacing as it recedes in the glass, lots of carbonation in this brew, some particles floating here and there, starts off with a floral and citrus hops, malt and toasted malt aromas, some faint dry caramel fragrances, honey sweetness and bread fragrances emerge as this ale warms, some pine needles on the nose, hops are abundant for a pale ale, flavor of toasted and pale malt, lots of hops on the palate, there are orange, pineapple and citrus fruit flavors but for just a moment because the hops comes in to move this to a bitter dry finish (and not in a bad way), there is a faint dry herbs feel on the tongue at the finish, lots of hop bitterness with pine needles on the tongue (for a Pale ale), has a medium mouth feel and finishes pretty dry and bitter for a pale ale, the hops really shine in this ale, may be a tad over carbonated but this did not get in the way of me enjoying this drink, I did not find this to be boring at all, actually this was a nice surprise.

Strong malty aroma. Yellow color with tinge of orange, typical to the style. Strong malty flavor, balanced with hops. Not particularly sweet or bitter. Slight hop burn on the palate. Not very interesting, but drinkable.

650 ml. Clear orange-copper with a huge head that lasts. Crisp citrus, peach-apple blend, earthy tea leaf, honey and slight gunmetal in the aroma. Flavor is an excellent blend of the same, plus some light resin. Light-medium body is smooth and crisp. Tastes like a great ESB.

Golden hue. Filmy head. Somewhat faint aroma. Not enough hops for me. Fairly weak tasting for a pale. Not the same quality as Hop Rod Rye or Racer 5.
