Commercial Description:
"XP" is the abbreviation for Exceptional Pale Ale. This is our interpretation of a classic pale ale. Our "XP" (exceptional pale) has a golden color, and is very light bodied with a noticeable hop aroma and bittering element that just teases the hopheads but satisfies the newest of microbrewed ale drinkers. This beer is brewed with American Two Row, English wheat, Belgian, and Dextrin malts. Mix this with just the right amounts of Cascade and Centennial hops and you've got a winner!!

Bottle: Light copper pour with a finger of creamy beige head. Aroma is rich and sweet with citrus and tropical fruits. A strong floral bitterness up front that gets just a little malty and bready before a lightly lingering bitter finish. Nice, I could enjoy this regularly.

22 oz Bomber - Pours a light golden color with massive and foamy head that leaves lasting lacing. Taste is lighter than expected but it goes down easily.

Bottle conditioned. Massive head that fills the glass and refuses to diminish. Slightly hoppy aroma, with some sweetness in the malt. A little more malt than I expected, but balanced.

A good pale ale. Very drinkable. Had a nice hop flavor. It’s pretty light. Like another reviewer I thought the XP would mean Extra Pale Ale maybe even pushing up into the IPA range. It was a nice beer, I would buy it again if there wasn’t anything more "hoppy" available.

Draft. Pours gold with a white head. The aroma is light, with sweet malt and a hoppy hint. The flavor is also on the light side, again with sweet caramel malt and a touch of floral hops. Not bad, but a very forgettable APA.

sample: RNH: exceptional pale ale eh? I see this beer has won a number of awards, I assume I got a bad batch and I hope to try this again to re-rate. I felt this beer was very thin and watery, with an exceptional lack of character.

22pz bottle served in one of my new 22oz snifters just to see if the whole thing would really fit. Success! Pours a lightly hazed amber with a magnificent lasting head. Leaves some great lacing as well. One of the best looking APAs I have seen yet. Smells of citrus zest and caramel with a candy like sweetness. Tastes more like a small IPA. Notable bitterness along with notes of grapefruit, pineapple, caramel, honey, and pine. Quite good and this bottle isn’t even very fresh. Another winner from one of my favorite breweries.

Poured a slightly hazy amber with a stiff merangue head and a few floaties. Islets of lacing. Aroma of cookie/shortbread caramel malts, sweet and buttery with some honeysuckle and orange. Malty biscuit/scone flavor with honey and a trace of yeast. Citrusy hop tang on the finish with a mildly bitter hop aftertaste. Has some classic leathery English ale notes as well. Smooth palate. Pretty good work.
