Commercial Description:
"XP" is the abbreviation for Exceptional Pale Ale. This is our interpretation of a classic pale ale. Our "XP" (exceptional pale) has a golden color, and is very light bodied with a noticeable hop aroma and bittering element that just teases the hopheads but satisfies the newest of microbrewed ale drinkers. This beer is brewed with American Two Row, English wheat, Belgian, and Dextrin malts. Mix this with just the right amounts of Cascade and Centennial hops and you've got a winner!!

May 2007 - Beer pours pale orange with beautiful head which stayed a half an inch thick down to the bottom of the glass, tons of lacing...just beautiful. Otherwise, this is a pretty bland APA and a bit of a disappointment from one of my fav brewers. Just some some grapefruit, a touch of caramel and some musty flowers...but weak in all flavorful regards.

Bear Republic XP Pale Ale is a hazy light amber ale with a thick, foamy, off-white head. It has excellent retention and leaves thick doily lace on the glass. The aroma is a little muted and a little sweet, like caramel. The hops are bright, piny and citrusy. Was this dry hopped? There is an underlying scent of a damp field. It is medium-light in body and fizzy; thin but fluffy. The finish is crisp and maybe a touch astringent. It is lightly sweet from the smooth malt and a touch dusty. The flavor is mostly straight-forward West Coast hops. It has great balance. This would be appropriate as a session ale any time.

22oz bottle. Took off the cap and foam was gushing out of this bottle like crazy. Hard to pour into glass each time got have a pint glass of foam, left some good lacing and some floating setiment on bottom of glass. Golden colored body and the ocean foam of head. Not much else here. Just standard beer some sweetness on the nose. Flavor was not over bitter and middle of the road. Mabe got a bad bottle.

Bottled. Hazy copper, orange colour with small sediment that settled quickly. Big carbonation driving a foamy off-white head. Aroma: sweet, piney hops; lemon and orange peel. Surprisingly light taste for an IPA. Mostly sweet, no big hops but a little citrus.

Pours hazy copper with beautiful fluffy white head. Beautiful complex floral aroma with big notes of dried fruit and strawberries. Flavor is also really fruity with big strawberry notes and some citrus hops. Sweet, but with enough hoppiness to cut through. A bit watery, however and the finish is too short.

22 oz. bomber. Poured clear, light copper with alot of floaties. Quickly dissipating head that left some streaks of lacing. Light floral nose. Slightly malty and mildly bitter pine finish. Very crisp and drinkable. A solid session APA.

golden pour with a 2 finger white head. nice blend of hops and malts on the nose. quit a bit if hops honestly but bearable. the thickness made it very easy to drink as well.
