Commercial Description:
"XP" is the abbreviation for Exceptional Pale Ale. This is our interpretation of a classic pale ale. Our "XP" (exceptional pale) has a golden color, and is very light bodied with a noticeable hop aroma and bittering element that just teases the hopheads but satisfies the newest of microbrewed ale drinkers. This beer is brewed with American Two Row, English wheat, Belgian, and Dextrin malts. Mix this with just the right amounts of Cascade and Centennial hops and you've got a winner!!

big bottle. Pours an orange/gold color with a frothy medium white head. The aroma is very hoppy with a bit of fruit. Good lacing on the glass. The taste is a very sweet hop and light malt with a bitter finish. A very good Pale Ale by Bear Republic.

Cloudy golden color. The aroma has on on bit of herbal and leafy hop. The flavor is weaker than expected, lacking of malt, only the good hop left, on on bit harsh; the final is very dry, astringent, on on bit yeasty.

Hazy amber color, beautiful; creamy head. Very nice aroma, hoppy, a bit grassy, and fruity (oranges). The body is a bit thin to me, with caramel flavor and strong hopping, with a lot of hop oils. It ends on the dry side, long final. Good, refreshing.

Boy was I happy to score this @ from the vine. Very fruity nose of currants, apples, pears, spice, perfume, resin, and flowers. The brew pours a sparkling golden. The generous chunky creamy white head is fully lasting with excellent lace. The front is well balanced, there is a moderate tang in the middle that follows to the finish which is floral, spicy and somewhat bitter. The light body is creamy and soft. The finish is clean. Perfect session material, could drink this all day. PS this goes great with the new Mozzerella pizzas from Donatos.

22oz. Bottle: Medium sweet aroma. Smells of hops, Cascades, citrus, grapefruit, and a bit of resin. Poured amber in color with a large, foamy, rocky, off-white head that lasted throughout. Hazy with many medium-sized particles throughout. Sparkling. Lightly bitter, lightly sweet flavor. Tastes of hops, Cascades, apple juice, caramel malts, citrus, and pine. Medium body. Slightly watery texture. Average carbonation. Sweet and bitter grapefruit/pine finish. A pretty good APA.

Wonderful copper color and a pleasant, almost fruit like nose. The "bittering element" is immediately noticed but not placeable. I had a quizzical face for the entire pint. I would definitely try this one again.

I found a new favorite APA - this one. hazy amber-orange with a 2-finger head and moderate yeast sediment. smells nicely floral and sweet. tastes of honey, various fruits, especially apple, then ctirus and more hops than usual for an APA. Medium-bodied with considerable carbonation considering the fill line was rather low. I’m a fan of this and all Bear Republic brews I’ve tried thusfar.

Gorgeous cloud of oranged - yellowy amber sun at dawn color. Tons of haze and stuff floating around. Towering foamy sponged capping of frothy off-whiteness sits forever. Smooths out to a very thick coating of leathery bubbles and laces the glass in huge curtains. The pinnacle of great looking glass of ale! Could smell it as I was pouring as clean tangerine and lemony grapefruit hit the air quickly. As it warms it gathers a quick caramel noting to hint at its backing and plays wonderfully between the two. Citrusy caramel, if there is such a thing, which this is, then this is that. Flavors are clean and well-rounded the whole way through. Easy going clean profile of citrusy hops and a nudge of pine. Caramel backing is perfect to juice up the sweetness around the citrus. The citrusy hoppyness is quite unique and complex in this one. Apple, pear, tangerine, melon, white grape, orange, lemon, and grapfruit all tend to get a bit of something in there. Its seemingly simple and has a significant delicate nature about its taste and bite that makes it apparently drinkable the moment it hits the lips. Feel is medium bodied, clean, with a fiestyness of well-balanced carbonation and hoppy buzzing. Pales down as it warms and digs out some earthy pine notes as it trails off into the finish. It has some exceptional complexity to it and maintains a very welcome palate of flavor and ease of drinkability. Wonderful stuff!

After the initial shock of the hops wore off and the light brownish red settled down, it tasted like a dry combination of malt and grapefruit. I thought it would pair well with Southern food. I thought it had a fair amount of sediment in the bottom too.
