Commercial Description:
"XP" is the abbreviation for Exceptional Pale Ale. This is our interpretation of a classic pale ale. Our "XP" (exceptional pale) has a golden color, and is very light bodied with a noticeable hop aroma and bittering element that just teases the hopheads but satisfies the newest of microbrewed ale drinkers. This beer is brewed with American Two Row, English wheat, Belgian, and Dextrin malts. Mix this with just the right amounts of Cascade and Centennial hops and you've got a winner!!

Fresh 22 oz bottle from bitbucket. Thank you Bob! -- Bear Republic XP Pale Ale has a sticky grapefruit aroma. It is golden orange in color and has a large, puffy, pale yellow head. The carbonation is lively and the head has excellent retention. There is also a substaintial amount of thick lacing. XP is packed full of grapefruit/pine hop flavor and has a mild to moderate level of bitterness. There is a modest level of maltiness beneath the hoppy layer. This beer is crisp, clean, and smooth on palate with just the right amount of carbonation. XP is eXcePtionally easy to drink and a very well done pale ale that doesn’t infringe upon the IPA territory. Altogether XP provides a wonderful drink eXPerience!

22-ounce bottle. Pours a dense gold with big-bubbled white head and lace. Big hoppy aroma, medium-bodied, intense hop flavor and bitterness. No flavor balance, all hops. Well carbonated. More "extreme" than "exceptional".

Pours clear golden / copper with a large cream colored head. The aroma has a nice hop nose - floral and grapefruit along with a good malt balance. Medium body with lots of carbonation that complements the flavor - there is also a good amount of resin. Starts with floral / piney hops with a good balance of malt. The finish has spicy hops that are accentuated by the carbonation. It still has the pine and some grapefruit aspects that stick around. As it warms a bit of oxidation shows with the hops taking more of a woody / paper taste. Overall a nice pale ale.

Bottle. Amber beer with a nice off-white head. Grapefruit aroma with some pine and biscuit. Grapefruit and pine flavor with a slight harshness that leads to a nice grapefruit finish. Decent bitterness. Medium bodied.

Strong citrusy aroma backed with malt and perhaps a bit of yeast. Clear amber color with a vigorous head from this live ale. Starts with carbonation quickly passing to strong citrus hop, some malt in the background, medium mouthfeel, finishing with citrus hop and detectable malt. Worthy of its IBU rating. There was a burst of orange at one point. Didn’t repeat.

I was hoping for a nice easy Pale Ale then I opened this overcarbonated 22oz crap. Maybe not crap, but no wher near the hop rod rye. I barely poured this out of the bottle into the glass and it was over half full of head. Way too carbonated. This sucks. Who the fuck gave me this one I wonder. Ahh crap, I asked for it. I can’t spell for shit.

I remember this tasting near skunked and watery. But then it turned out to be a really watered down red rocket.
