Flavor is superb, not overly assertive but finely balanced between an herbal hoppiness and smooth, creamy malts. An absolute pleasure to drink. MillStreetMan (152), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 29, 2005 Pretty good, although a bit less ballsy in taste than I like my pale ales, certainly less so than the other two Bear Republics (Hop Rod and Racer 5). It is pale amber, with the nose and taste of dried apricots predominating. Initially the bitterness is not really present, but reveals itself in the finish and aftertaste. Not bad, but I won’t really be running back to it. Ernest (4515), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 26, 2005 Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is
medium amber. Aroma is moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin/pine),
lightly malty (cookie, toasted bread), lightly yeasty (dough). Flavor is
moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Finish is
lightly sweet, moderately acidic, heavily bitter. Medium body, watery
texture, lively carbonation. One-dimensional and sorely unbalanced. dolemike1 (1129), Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 8, 2005 A good solid APA. Bear Republic brews some impressive beers this one is no exception. A darker than normal APA, thats nice. Medium bodied. Good hop flavors, piney, citrusy and lightly floral. Medium sweet, lightly bready malts. A straight forward, no nonense brew! Bear Republic rocks! Enjoy! Aubrey (2782), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 5, 2005 Cloudy amber with a nice and frothy head and sticky lace. Crisp up front; smooth and heavier toward the finish. Roasty caramel aligned with perfectly toasted bread. Wonderfully balanced and complementing Cascade and Centennial hops give it that classic flavor and aroma. Surprisingly, it wasn’t as citric as I expected; it was more earthy and wholesome. Really tasty stuff. egajdzis (3644), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2004 Poured a copper color with a medium sized, creamy, off white head, that left spotty lacing on the glass. Lots of citrus fruit in the aroma, light malt as well. Apricots and juicy tangerines, grapefruit, and bitter hops in the taste. Off finish, almost a little sour, though very quaffable.
