Commercial Description:
"XP" is the abbreviation for Exceptional Pale Ale. This is our interpretation of a classic pale ale. Our "XP" (exceptional pale) has a golden color, and is very light bodied with a noticeable hop aroma and bittering element that just teases the hopheads but satisfies the newest of microbrewed ale drinkers. This beer is brewed with American Two Row, English wheat, Belgian, and Dextrin malts. Mix this with just the right amounts of Cascade and Centennial hops and you've got a winner!!

Bright orange pour with a fluffy white head and thick lace. Hoppy aroma; slightly grassy. A little thin. Sweet malts and pine flavor. Nice balance but there are other; better pale ales out there.

Translucent orange/brown appearance. Decent appearance. Hoppy aroma, but it is that skunky hop aroma. This is not my favorite type of hop, but it is very aromatic. Very hoppy beer with very little malt flavor. This beer is fairly carbonated. This is not one of my favorite Bear Republic beers. I am happy with the hoppy flavors, but there is no malt balance. Pine hops dominate. Hoppy beer, but not extremely good.

The aroma is malty with grassy hops. The appearance is deep gold with a light amber hue. The head is huge. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall a good tasting beer that is less than stellar due to a simple aroma and thin palate.

Reviewed 2/27/2009 (bottle): Enjoyed with beef jerky and fruit and nut trail mix. Pours a huge foamy whitish color head, rocky, lastingish. Body is clear pale orange in color. Hoppy aroma, earthy smelling. Not very citrusy or piny. Some mustiness, and some sweetness. Musty taste, malty and nutty. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel. A little over-carbonated.

Poured a light coppery color with medium offwhite head. Aroma is bit earthy and grassy and slight sweetness. Flavor is a bit light with decent balance of sweet malts and mild citrus. Overall, decent apa.
