Cask conditioned at Coventry Beer Fest ’07. Dark brown with fine head. Thin and watery mild with perhaps some strawberry fruitiness and sweetness. Wet cardboard on the finish, which is mercifully short.

A Sim rate (Cask at London Drinker): Caramel chocolate aroma. Slightly better than a standard British beer. Smooth hazelnut flavour. Slightly vanilla. Slightly creamy.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Dark brown with a small white head. Faint aroma, the taste rather subdued and sweet biscuity. A slight dryness.

Half pint pulled at GBBF, darkish brown with a thin tan head. A light roasted malty aroma. Sweet molasses flavours dominate the rich mouthfeel with a tight finish.

Cask@Rugby Beer Festival, 2006 Pitch black beer with a light head. The aroma is rustic and oaty and the flavour is dry, oaty and slighlty coffee. Overall a nice dark beer.

Cask conditoned - gravity dispense - Rugby BF. A black coloured mild with a decent coffee coloured head. The aroma is lightly smoky with a little roasted malt. The taste is dry and malty, again a little smokiness comes through. Acceptable.

Cask at Wenlock Arms, London. Red-black color with small creamy head. Chocolade, nuts and rye in the aroma. Sweetish flavor with chocolade, licorice and soft roastiness. The finish is long and sweet with mildly bitter, chocolatey, roasted and nutty notes. A bit characterless, too much rounded sweet chocolade flavor.

Cask Conditioned at the Hop Pole Inn, Aylesbury. Dark amber. Sweet, caramely aroma. Dark sugary, caramel with very low bitterness and no obvious fruity character. Smooth caramel filled mild. Nice, but not totally to my taste.
