Nose of intense caramel malts, very earthy and woodsy, quite toasty, with prune and floral hops. Tastes sweet, of toffee and caramel, fresh floral hops, sugary prune, quite oaky. Nice long bitter finish, medium full body. Seems a bit boozy.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 30, 2008 A dark reddish brown ale with a thin off white head. A very pleasant vinous aroma with light cinnamon notes, very fragrant. In mouth, a nice treacle malt with nutty notes, veering into Belgian territory, with nice fruity esters, light alcohol warmth, medium bodied, but still rich and interesting. A plus for Beau’s on this one! On tap at Wellington Gastropub, 6.00$ HogTownHarry (4020), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 28, 2008 Draught. At BeerBistro - 2008 Golden Tap Awards. * I suspect there is a mix-up ... I think this was FestivAle and Volo has the plus, but ... ehh. Slightly cloudy deep amber pour with a wee lil head. Sweet burnt malt extract aroma, not much alcohol, smelled like charred pudding (not even Christmas pudding). Taste - surprisingly floral and dry, a tad papery, not much of the carbonized character I got on the nose, and a perceptible, unbalanced alcohol burn in the tail. Thin bodied, which allows the booziness to dominate somewhat, a little squeaky-astringent in the finish - needs more malt body by a big margin. tomthompson89 (1489), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

[1634-20080926] Tap. Bready grains aroma. Clear, amber orange body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Mild bready grains flavour, noticeable alcohol. Medium body is a little watery. Mild and drinkable. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4
(Called regular, probably the plus @ Volo; Toronto, ON)
Note: Both ratings are here for reference because there is a high chance beerbistro had the regular and Volo had the plus, despite being told the opposite from the brewery... jerc (3947), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 24, 2008 Updated: Sep 11, 20082008-08-23. Labelled "Festivale Plus" but likely the regular Festivale. Dark copper-brown body with a smallish beige head. (3+) Aroma is quite sweet with lightly toasty caramel malt. Flavour has fairly bitter overtones that mute the sweet malty core, touches of dry caramel malt. (6+) Smooth average palate is very lightly carbonated. Quaffable, pleasant, average. 7/3/6/3/14 - 3.3 On Tap, Golden Tap Awards, Toronto
2008-08-26. Good dark copper body with a modest tan head. (3+) Aroma is lightly fruity with a surprising amount of hops in the nose, mild malt base (6+). Flavour is similar with dryish caramel malt that has toasty touches in the highlights, a modest alcohol presence and bitterness in the finish. (6+) Average plus palate. (3+) Quaffable but just okay. 6/3/6/3/14 - 3.2 On tap at Volo as Festivale Plus
