Blom (605), Odense, Denmark Jul 21, 2008 Bottle, Corneglia, Italy. A sweet malty beer with notes of nuts, toast, caramel and biscuits. Needs air to be fully appreciated - otherwise the carbonation ruins everything.
argo0 (6145), Washington DC, USA Aug 15, 2008 (draft) Murky copper body with small off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, raisin, some grape. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, raisin, some toastiness, peach, grape. Medium body, low carbonation. Rastacouere (5258), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jun 5, 2008 Objectively speaking:
Decent strong amber ale with an alcoholic twist.
I like:
Certainly Beba’s firmer mouthfeel of the ones I’ve had. Fair toasty, nutty maltiness. Never too sweet.
I dislike:
Not so much identity, malt-oriented toasty and cerealic nature, but the other ingredients are absent and the malts are not exactly decadent.
MartinT (4307), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 30, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Lean caramel maltiness and its accompanying toastiness politely introduce their earthy hop acquaintance to increasingly impatient tastebuds. This strong Amber Ale is competently put together, but I’m afraid it has nothing to keep me interested for an entire bottle.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A thin slice of foam dwindles into the clear amber.
-This is cleanly brewed, but totally forgettable.
-Alcohol is apparent even in the nose, which is weird for a brew under 7% abv.
-The hop finale is timid and barely succeeds in balancing out the thinnish maltiness.
Bottle.
